ABOUT THE ROLE:

Are you a strategic planner with a love for delivering structure and clarity to fast-moving development environments? To oversee operational planning, scheduling, and coordination across our engineering teams, Orion180 is seeking a Development Planning Lead. In this position, you'll make sure teams have work that is prioritized and prepared for execution while giving leadership insight on milestones, capacity, and delivery progress.

You will oversee cross-team priorities, dependencies, and changing business requirements as a crucial link between Product and Engineering, maintaining delivery momentum and facilitating well-informed decision-making. This is your chance to have a significant influence if you enjoy managing complexity and maintaining team cohesion.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Plan & Coordinate: Own development scheduling and planning to ensure a continuous pipeline of ready, prioritized work across multiple teams.
  • Align & Prioritize: Partner with Product and Engineering leaders to align backlogs with evolving business goals and ensure work is sequenced effectively.
  • Manage Capacity & Flow: Balance resource capacity across teams, coordinate dependencies, and optimize delivery flow to keep work moving efficiently.
  • Adapt & Replan: Lead replanning efforts when priorities shift, minimizing disruption and maintaining delivery momentum.
  • Track & Report: Build and maintain dashboards and reporting to communicate progress, capacity, risks, and delivery timelines to leadership.
  • Drive Continuous Improvement: Recommend enhancements to processes, tools, and workflows to improve predictability and planning accuracy.
  • Centralize Visibility: Act as the go-to source for development progress and capacity insights across the organization.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years in software delivery, development planning, or program coordination roles.
  • Proven success supporting multiple Agile or hybrid development teams.
  • Skilled in managing fast-changing priorities and dynamic workloads.

Technical Proficiency:

  • Hands-on experience with delivery tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar.
  • Comfortable creating dashboards, reports, and capacity tracking systems.

Skills:

  • Exceptional organizational and communication abilities.
  • Strong analytical and planning mindset with attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and drive alignment across teams.

Certification (Preferred):

Agile, Scrum, or project delivery-related certifications (CSM, PMI-ACP, or SAFe Agilist) are a plus but not required. Practical experience and execution skills are highly valued.
