Greater St. Louis Area Scouting is seeking a motivated and relationship-oriented Development Executive, Operations to support fundraising and development initiatives that help deliver life-changing programs to youth throughout the St. Louis region.

This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career professional interested in nonprofit leadership, fundraising, donor stewardship, grant management, project coordination, and community engagement. Working closely with development leadership, volunteers, donors, and community partners, you will gain hands-on experience in multiple areas of nonprofit development while helping advance our mission.

What You'll Do

As a member of the Development team, you will play an important role in supporting fundraising operations and donor engagement efforts.

Fundraising & Donor Relations
  • Build and maintain meaningful relationships with current donors and supporters.
  • Identify, cultivate, and engage prospective donors who are passionate about Scouting's mission.
  • Manage an assigned donor portfolio, helping supporters connect with and invest in local youth programs.
  • Assist with donor communications, stewardship efforts, acknowledgments, and recognition activities.
  • Support annual fundraising campaigns and special development initiatives.
Development Operations
  • Coordinate development projects, meetings, events, and communications.
  • Support donor database management, gift processing, reporting, and record maintenance.
  • Prepare meeting materials, donor correspondence, and campaign resources.
  • Track and report progress using established fundraising and engagement metrics.
Grant & Project Management
  • Assist with grant applications, reports, and follow-up activities.
  • Coordinate timelines and ensure development projects stay on schedule.
  • Collaborate with leadership to support strategic fundraising priorities.
Community Engagement
  • Represent Greater St. Louis Area Scouting at community events and networking opportunities.
  • Develop partnerships with community leaders, volunteers, businesses, and organizations.
  • Attend and support district and council events that advance fundraising and community impact.
What We're Looking ForDesired Skills & Experience
  • Strong communication skills and an interest in developing expertise in fundraising, donor engagement, nonprofit operations, and project management.
  • Experience in nonprofit organizations, customer service, event coordination, volunteer management, hospitality, sales, or relationship-building roles is preferred.
  • Experience using CRM software such as Raiser's Edge NXT is a plus.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and Canva preferred.
  • Comfortable speaking with individuals and groups in both formal and informal settings.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
  • Positive attitude, initiative, and a willingness to learn.

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
Additional Qualifications
  • Nonprofit, fundraising, donor relations, sales, customer service, or business development experience is beneficial but not required.
  • Must be willing to accept and meet Scouting America leadership and membership standards and subscribe to the Scout Oath and Law.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age unless otherwise prohibited by applicable law.
  • Enjoy a flexible schedule that includes occasional evening and weekend events to engage with supporters and community partners.
  • Ability to travel for training and professional development opportunities, including occasional annual training programs.
  • A Scouting background is helpful but not required.
  • Employment offers are contingent upon successful criminal, reference, and motor vehicle background checks.

Compensation

Starting Salary: $44,000 annually
