We have an opportunity for a development engineer to join our Elster Water Metering team in Luton. You will support our ongoing NPI process developing various water meters (Volumetric, Solid State Electronic, Woltmann type bulk, single and multijet).

Overview:
Reporting to the test manager this role is required to accelerate NPI’s creating a bridge between the design engineers and the hydraulics, measurement and prototype labs exploiting all facilities and advantages available. The ideal person will be practiced in fast paced development using their own initiative to rapidly solve problems and provide feedback to the wider cross discipline NPI team.
Key responsibilities
- Rapid and dynamic translation of concepts to prototypes
- Design and execution of Ad Hoc tests and test equipment for product development
- Creation of specifications for new capital equipment
- Strategic improvements in development and testing
- Work with local and remote internal partners as well as 3rd party suppliers and consultants
- Testing prototype and existing products using manual and automated test equipment
Key skills and qualifications
Must have:
- Min 5 years (post education) demonstrable experience working in a fast paced electro-mechanical R&D design and validation environment
- Knowledge of electro-mechanical validation preferably flow mete testing
- Apprenticeship or mechanical based degree with significant hands on practical experience
- Competent with typical machine shop equipment
- Experience with analysis equipment and scrutinizing data
- Project management & project lead experience
- Working dynamically with missing information
- MS office inc. Excel, Word & PowerPoint
- Confident in presentations and meetings
- Knowledge of HSE requirements and safe working practices (COSHH, risk assessments etc.)
