The Development Coordinator plays a vital role in the advancement, philanthropy, and fundraising of the Bender JCC. This position is responsible for working on the segments of the annual fundraising campaign, stewardship of mid-level donors, and working on major development events. Under the guidance of the Chief Development Office (CDO), the individual who takes on this role will have the opportunity to contribute to the strategy and growth of a thriving institution that has served as an important part of the community for more than 100 years.
Core Responsibilities:
Donor Relationships and Stewardship
- Execute a comprehensive annual giving program to meet revenue goals.
- Manage a portfolio of individual mid-level donors and prospects, leading all stages of engagement identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship.
- Develop and implement engagement opportunities that move donors to higher levels of annual giving, supporting the growth of a major gifts pipeline.
- Support the CEO and the CDO with timely updates and information, relevant collateral, and other stewardship pieces for their respective portfolios.
- Identify new donor prospects from existing membership base and new networks.
- Research and qualify donors and prospects using wealth screening and other tools.
Events and Engagement
- Provide primary administrative and logistical support for fundraising events and donor engagement activities.
- Manage registration, tracking, communications, and post-event follow-up.
- Engage with volunteer leaders.
- Develop sponsorship packages to engage past and current sponsors.
- Identify potential new sponsors through work with lay committees and Development Team.
- Solicit past and potential sponsors, tribute book ad purchasers, raffle and/or silent auction donors, ticket purchasers, and in-kind donors.
- Lead corporate giving initiative.

You should have:
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office and Salesforce.
- Knowledge of funding communities, including Jewish, secular, foundations.
- Ability to work in a team environment of various stakeholders (professional and lay).
- Strong ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
- Ability to attend and support fundraising events, and to work evenings and weekends as needed.
- Minimum bachelor’s degree with 3-5 years experience in non-profit organization and/or fundraising experience. Prior special events experience preferred.
- Ability to perform other duties as assigned.

Compensation & Benefits
This is a full-time, exempt position, with an annual salary between $60,000-$70,000, commensurate with experience. The Bender JCC provides a benefits package that includes 403(b), medical, dental, and vision benefits, paid time off, and a flexible working environment. You’ll also receive a full family membership to the Bender JCC, including complete access to the entire fitness facility and pools, plus staff discounts on programs and services.
