Description

The Development & Communications Specialist provides administrative and operational support for fundraising, donor engagement, and marketing and communications efforts. This role ensures the accuracy and integrity of donor data and financial processes, supports the execution of events and campaigns, and contributes to clear, consistent external communications. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative support for special events, including but not limited to Women of Distinction, JGL events, various donor gatherings, and virtual meetings. 
  • Utilize Bloomerang software to manage/update all donor records and ensure that all biographical and gift data is accurate.  Maintain, develop, implement, and follow procedures to guide accurate and timely data entry, gift processing, acknowledgement, annual receipting, and reporting.
  • Confirm payment schedule for pledges, generate invoices, and/or solicit payment (i.e. charges credit card) in accordance with the donor’s request.
  • Assist the Development team with Council workplace giving and local community give initiatives. 
  • Assist with drafting, editing, and scheduling email communications using Salesforce in collaboration with the Marketing & Communications team. 
  • Proofread marketing and development-related materials for accuracy, consistency, grammar, and alignment with brand standards.
  • Support by proofreading grant proposals and other external communications for clarity, accuracy, and consistency.
  • Create and manage mailing lists, donor recognition lists, and segmented audiences for fundraising and marketing communications.
  • · Collaborate with the Finance Department to reconcile financial transactions.
  • Provide professional, quality customer service to all customers (i.e. donors, members, volunteers, staff and other community contacts).
  • Handle confidential information with integrity and discretion.
  • Demonstrate commitment to the Girl Scout mission by representing GSHPA in a positive and professional manner.
  • Performs other duties as assigned in  support of council-wide initiatives and/or cross-functional teams to further the mission of GSHPA.

Requirements

Qualifications, Skills & Abilities:

  • Two to three years of experience in an administrative or communications position; college degree preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to ensure accuracy, consistency, and quality across data management, donor records, and written communications.
  • Highly proficient in MS Office, Adobe Acrobat and virtual meeting platforms.
  • Proficient with audiovisual equipment.
  • Experience with Bloomerang and/or other donor databases preferred.
  • Use sound judgement and critical thinking skills when decision making.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize a high volume of work while managing multiple deadlines in a continually changing work environment.
  • Strong public relations skills and ability to develop community collaborations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Work independently and with limited supervision.
  • Efficiently operate standard office equipment.
  • Work with individuals of diverse backgrounds and ages in a professional manner.
  • Adapt well to changing circumstances, direction, and strategy.
  • Work a flexible schedule, to include nights and weekends, as needed.
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license; access to reliable transportation      required.
  • Travel throughout the council, as needed.
  • Lift/carry 25 pounds.
  • Sitting, standing or walking for a moderate period of time is required.

Skills Required
