ROLE SUMMARY

The Development Assistant provides administrative and operational support to the Development & Communications Department, helping ensure the successful coordination of fundraising, donor stewardship, communications, and community engagement activities. This position plays a key role in maintaining accurate donor records, supporting fundraising campaigns and events, preparing communications materials, and providing exceptional service to donors, volunteers, and community partners.

Working collaboratively with the Development team and internal departments, the Development Assistant helps maintain efficient departmental operations while supporting Mental Wellness Center's mission to advance wellness throughout the community through philanthropy, education, and engagement. 

CORE RESPONSIBILITES

  • Provide administrative support to the Development & Communications Department.
  • Process donations, maintain donor records, and prepare donor acknowledgments and tax receipts.
  • Assist with donor communications, annual giving campaigns, and fundraising mailings.
  • Coordinate fundraising events, including registration, volunteers, guest communications, and event logistics.
  • Create flyers, newsletters, social media content, and other promotional materials using Canva and Microsoft Office.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, meeting materials, and other department documents.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential donor records while supporting fundraising reporting and database management.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to support fundraising initiatives and organizational communications.
  • Provide general administrative support and assist with special projects as needed.
Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate's degree or coursework in Business Administration, Communication, Marketing, Nonprofit Management, or a related field preferred. 
  • One to three years of administrative, nonprofit, fundraising, communications, or related experience. 
  • Experience supporting, fundraising, donor stewardship, customer service, or office administration preferred. 
  • Experience coordinating events or community engagement activities preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record consistent with MWC’s policy and insurance requirements if driving is required

  • Strong organizational, administrative, and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with donors, volunteers, community partners, and colleagues.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgment.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative team environment.
  • Experience using donor management software, preferably DonorPerfect.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Proficiency with Canva and familiarity with social media platforms, including Instagram and Facebook.
