Position Summary:

The Development Account Coordinator helps the Development department sustain and grow the funding LACI needs to accomplish its mission. Reporting directly to the VP of Development, the Account Coordinator is the organization’s engine for funding relationships covering general operating support and partnerships (e.g., Clean Energy Partnership) across corporates, foundations, non-profits, and high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs). The Account Coordinator will prospect leads, prepare touch points, own funder engagements, secure funding agreements, draft communications and proposals, present to funders, and own post-agreement reporting and support.

What You’ll Do:

  • Prospecting (for general operating support and partnerships): Research potential funders across corporates, foundations, non-profits, and high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs). Prioritize targets accordingly in partnership with VP of Development
  • Partnership Preparation Support: Prepare outreach in collaboration with the development team and internal program teams. Initiate outreach to ensure a comprehensive, consistent approach to partners’ and prospective funders’ engagement with LACI. Understand funder needs and wants. Curate relationships to confirm support/buy-in
  • Own, sustain, and deepen funder relationships: Develop account management plans. Cultivate long-term relationships with funders, stewarding their involvement and fostering long-term engagement with the organization. Support donor/funder-specific events such as LACItizen Awards, NY Climate Week, Patron Dinners, How To Do Business With, etc.
  • Reporting & Compliance: Ensure complete, timely and helpful execution & reporting of funding deliverables. Develop account management plans.

Why You’re Right for the Job:

  • You’re a data whiz. Spending a whole day organizing data doesn’t intimidate you. Details matter to you. (Color-coded Excel spreadsheets, anyone?)
  • You know how to communicate through writing. You understand how to create a compelling story and want to harness that talent to create an inclusive green economy.
  • You’re a team player. You genuinely enjoy working alongside others, and you tend to bring a sense of camaraderie and joy into your work. You are known by your friends and colleagues as a person who prioritizes relationships built on mutual respect and authenticity.
  • You take pride in your work. From the most difficult to “easy” tasks, you’re confident in the skills you bring to the team and thrive under limited supervision, without hesitating to ask for help when you need it.
  • People trust you. You are honest, trustworthy and have the ability to maintain discretion in handling sensitive information.

Requirements:

Basically, we want to know you can get the job done. This means you have/are:

  • Bachelor’s degree or similar experience
  • At least two years of relevant experience in business development, sales, account management, fundraising support, or development
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills that enable work in a collaborative environment
  • Ability to work independently under minimal supervision and to maintain confidentiality and discretion
  • Strong written communication skills
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Google Suite, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Asana (or similar project management software)
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to keep track of multiple projects with competing deadlines

Work Requirements

  • Must work in LACI’s Downtown LA office (we are currently hybrid in office 3 days a week and remote 2 days a week)
  • Availability to work occasional weekends and/or evening hours depending on events scheduled
  • Some local travel may be required

Position Details:

This is a full-time position, starting immediately. LACI operates out of the La Kretz Innovation Campus, in the bustling Downtown LA Arts District. Since we are rapidly growing, you will be getting in on the ground floor at LACI, with the opportunity to evolve with us and shape your future here. Some travel may be required.

Salary Range: Coordinator Range $54-64k commensurate with experience, education, skills, etc and total compensation package including health benefits, 401k match, professional development, commuter benefits and more.
