About the Role:

We are looking for an experienced Cognos Developer to join our Business Intelligence team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with IBM Cognos tools to design, develop, and maintain BI solutions and reporting applications. You will be responsible for developing and implementing Cognos reports, dashboards, and cubes to provide critical business insights to stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:Cognos Report and Dashboard Development

• Design, develop, and maintain interactive Cognos reports, dashboards, and scorecards using Cognos Analytics, including Report Studio, Framework Manager, and Dashboards.
• Work with business users and stakeholders to gather requirements and create reports that meet their business needs and help drive data-driven decision-making.
• Create complex, dynamic reports, multi-dimensional reports, and ad-hoc reports to address business-specific requirements.

Data Modeling and Data Integration

• Design and maintain the Cognos Framework Manager models to integrate with different data sources such as relational databases, OLAP cubes, and flat files.
• Develop and optimize data models for reporting and analytics to ensure accuracy and performance.
• Work with data engineers and architects to ensure seamless integration between Cognos and other data platforms, such as SQL Server, Oracle, and cloud-based data sources.

Performance Tuning and Optimization

• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks in Cognos reports, dashboards, and queries.
• Implement best practices for Cognos report development, optimizing reports for performance and scalability.
• Conduct regular performance tuning and troubleshoot issues in Cognos environments.

User Support and Training

• Provide training and support to end users on how to create their own ad-hoc reports and analyze data using Cognos tools.
• Assist business users in understanding and navigating Cognos reports and dashboards.
• Troubleshoot report and data issues and assist in resolving problems in a timely manner.

Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement

• Collaborate with business analysts, project managers, and other stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into functional specifications.
• Work closely with other IT teams, including database administrators and data engineers, to ensure seamless reporting and integration.
• Communicate progress and project status to stakeholders, addressing any risks or issues.

Continuous Improvement and Innovation

• Stay updated with the latest IBM Cognos technologies and BI trends.
• Recommend improvements and new features to enhance the BI solution and reporting capabilities.
• Explore new ways to automate reports and improve the reporting process to save time and improve accuracy.

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Experience:
• 3-5 years of experience in Cognos BI development and report/dashboard creation.
• Proven experience with Cognos tools such as Report Studio, Query Studio, Framework Manager, and Cognos Analytics.
• Experience with data modeling, creating data warehouses, OLAP cubes, and working with complex SQL queries.
• Familiarity with data integration tools and technologies (e.g., ETL tools).
• Technical Skills:
• Strong proficiency in IBM Cognos Suite (Report Studio, Framework Manager, Cognos Analytics, Cognos Administration).
• Strong knowledge of SQL and experience with relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle).
• Understanding of multidimensional data structures, data warehousing, and OLAP technologies.
• Familiarity with cloud BI platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) is a plus.
• Experience with report performance tuning and optimization in Cognos environments.
• Soft Skills:
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical concepts to business users.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and engage with multiple stakeholders.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
• Certifications (preferred):
• IBM Certified Developer – Cognos BI.
• IBM Cognos Analytics Certification.
• ITIL Foundation Certification (a plus).
