Location: Hyderabad, India
Experience: 12+ years
We are looking for a Dev Manager to serve as the primary owner of engineering excellence for assigned project(s). This role combines strong technical depth, critical thinking, people leadership, and operational discipline to help teams deliver secure, reliable, scalable, and maintainable software.
The Dev Manager owns the Engineering Health Scorecard, upholds engineering standards, proactively identifies issues and edge cases, and guides incidents toward durable, systemic resolution. The role requires a high degree of autonomy and the ability to provide leadership with a clear, accurate, and timely view of engineering health.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- 12+ years of software engineering experience, including 5+ years leading engineering teams.
- Strong hands-on experience with the Microsoft technology stack, including C#, .NET 8+ / .NET Core, ASP.NET Core, Entity Framework Core, and REST API development.
- Experience with modern frontend engineering using Vue.js, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, ESLint, and Prettier.
- Strong understanding of application architecture, microservices, API-driven design, secure coding practices, OOP, SOLID principles, design patterns, and clean architecture.
- Experience with relational databases and performance tuning, preferably SQL Server, along with caching platforms such as Redis.
- Experience with messaging and event-driven systems such as RabbitMQ, Kafka, and Google Pub/Sub.
- Experience with containerized services and cloud platforms, preferably Docker, Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE), and Google Cloud services such as Cloud SQL, Cloud Storage, IAM, and Secret Manager.
- Experience with CI/CD, source control, and engineering workflow tools such as Bamboo, GitHub, Bitbucket, Jira, and Confluence.
- Experience with code quality and security tools such as SonarQube, SonarLint, Snyk, Nexus IQ, StyleCop, Roslyn Analyzers, and .editorconfig.
- Experience with observability, diagnostics, and incident analysis using tools such as New Relic, Sentry, Serilog, Google Cloud Logging, Loggly, GKE Monitoring, Slack alerts, liveness/readiness checks, PerfView, dotMemory, dotTrace, dotnet-counters, dotnet-dump, and dotnet-trace.
- Experience or strong interest in integrating LLMs and Generative AI capabilities into production applications.
- Exposure to caching and CDN platforms such as Redis, Fastly and Akamai is a plus.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present technical risks, trade-offs, and recommendations to senior stakeholders.
Proactive issue detection and prevention
- Establish daily operational review practices for production errors, latency, saturation, failed jobs, health checks, and alerts across New Relic, Sentry, Google Cloud Logging, Loggly, and Slack integrations.
- Proactively identify issues, anomalies, and edge cases before they become customer-facing incidents.
- Lead structured root-cause analysis for incidents and escaped defects, including what went wrong, why it was not detected earlier, the permanent fix, and the guardrails required to prevent recurrence.
Engineering health and standards
- Own the Engineering Health Scorecard for assigned project(s) and report engineering health, trends, and risks to product and leadership with supporting data.
- Uphold engineering practices and CI/CD quality gates across build, test, coverage, SonarQube, Snyk, and Nexus IQ checks. Any override should be visible, justified, and time-bound.
- Continuously improve code quality, security posture, test coverage, reliability, performance, and technical debt.
Technical leadership
- Provide architectural and technical direction across the .NET and Vue stack, microservices, messaging with Kafka, RabbitMQ, and Google Pub/Sub, caching with Redis, edge platforms such as Fastly and Akamai, and services hosted on GKE.
- Review architecture, code, security, and performance, and serve as an escalation point for complex technical problems in partnership with Architects and senior engineers.
- Lead modernization and engineering uplift initiatives, including .NET Core migration, Generative AI integration, and observability and resilience improvements.
Delivery and team
- Drive sprint planning and execution so that technical debt, reliability, and engineering improvements are delivered alongside feature work.
- Lead, mentor, and grow Senior Engineers, Tech Leads, and Developers through regular 1:1s, performance reviews, and career development conversations.
- Partner with Product Owners, Architects, and Leadership to translate business needs into sound technical solutions and clear delivery plans.
