Your Opportunity

The primary role for this Sustainable Professional is to coordinate documentation required for the various Third-Party Sustainability Certifications our projects are pursing as well as participating with project teams to advise on any sustainable practices, opportunities, and materials that will enhance our designs. Also, to educate the project teams in the office on such practices and / or products. This individual will be required to present sustainable concepts in formal and informal settings and guide the project teams and be a liaison with the larger Sustainable Group for Stantec.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • To collect the required documentation for the various Third-Party Certifications we are pursuing from our various design team members including internal and external disciplines
  • To submit required documentation for the various Third-Party Certifications we are pursing
  • Assist the design team on specific concepts to meet specific credit requirements
  • Assist other project teams as needed in an advisory capacity for general sustainable design initiatives and strategies
  • Participate in internal Stantec Carbon Team meetings and presentations
  • Help promote general awareness of both proven and new Sustainable strategies and materials within our teams - partially via identification of vendors that produce these components and facilitating internal learning events such as lunch and learn sessions for CEU credits
  • Coordinate initiatives with the Carbon Impact Team for Stantec, company wide as a Carbon Impact Advocate



Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Proficiency in Word and Excel
  • Knowledge of Revit or AutoCAD, InDesign and Photoshop are desirable but not necessary
  • Sustainable certification, or interest in obtaining certification by
    • USGBC [LEED]
    • The Green Building Initiative
    • The Well Standard
    • Living Building Challenge


Education and Experience

  • Degree in Bachelor of Science in Sustainability or equivalent


Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
