Description

The printed circuit board designer is responsible for performing all aspects of printed circuit board design necessary to achieve the realization of new Automotive Electronics products and to sustain existing products.

The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, a committed attention to detail, and the ability to work to perform effectively with limited supervision. This role requires a collaborative working style working closely with product development engineers.

Responsibilities:

  • Design PCB layouts for digital, analog, and mixed-signal circuits from stack-up through production
  • Collaborate with Hardware Engineers and Mechanical Designers to meet design requirements and constraints
  • Create/modify schematics under the guidance of Hardware Engineers
  • Create accurate component symbols, footprints, and database entries from manufacturer's datasheets
  • Generate fabrication and assembly outputs and initiate quotes for prototypes from local PCB fabricators
  • Respond to technical questions from global suppliers to support PCB fabrication
  • Support the installation, configuration, and maintenance of CAD software as needed
  • Adhere to DFM, DFF, DFT as well as relevant IPC specifications such as IPC-2221
  • Presenting designs in engineering design reviews and implementing feedback
  • Be able to handle multiple sources of input and feedback per design resulting in a high-quality end product

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in Electrical Technology or related technical field and 8+ years of PCB Design using Altium Designer or similar ECAD tools.
  • Work collaboratively in an organized and structured fashion
  • Takes ownership and self-accountability of project goals
  • Strong Customer Service orientation, to work with Design Engineering Customers
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask and prioritize work

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 6+ years in the design of multilayer PCBs with knowledge of HDI design and PCB fab and assembly
  • Understanding of PCB material properties and fabrication processes to meet all aspects of electrical design requirements
  • IPC CID/CID+ certification highly desirable
