THE ROLE
The Sr. Designer, Packaging, creates iconic owned-brand, original artwork that wows our members and meets brand guidelines and standards. In this role, you’ll be responsible for owning the packaging process from brief to final proof. You will closely work with Content, Brand Managers and Product Innovators to deliver award-winning packaging designs.
The ideal candidate has a strong background in CPG packaging design at an agency or in-house creative team who was able to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines. Requirements include a passion for mission-marketing; a deep interest in healthy living; and an ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with a high bar for excellence. Thrive Market is a fast-growing and young brand. The Sr. Designer will be an integral member of the Marketing Creative team helping to develop and evolve our owned-brands identity.
This role will report to the Manager, Packaging Design.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Own designs of consumer packaging goods in line with brand style guides from start to finish
- Conduct competitive research, staying up to date with the trends and understanding the consumer landscape
- Collaborate with team members across photo, content, and merch marketing to determine objectives, style, and approaches necessary to complete creative objectives; Interpret and follow Creative Briefs
- Create presentations with packaging mockups and compile with competitive landscape for review by leadership
- Effectively communicate status of projects to key stakeholders on a regular basis, thoughtfully describing your process, strategy, and rationale
- Collaborate with Content on editorial direction of product packaging
- Assist in choosing structures and material when relevant
- Work with production design team to deliver final assets
- Ensure final product is as accurate as possible by proofing digital and physical assets and communicating effectively with manufacture when necessary
- Ensure brand continuity across all packaging using brand style guide
- Identify new opportunities to elevate our brand in the packaging space, staying up to date on best practices of design, print and branding
QUALIFICATIONS
- 7+ years of design experience, preferably in agency or startup environments
- B.S./B.A. degree or equivalent experience in Design or comparable creative field
- Must love design and have passion for creating iconic, best-in-class packaging designs
- A solid eye, with conviction. A designer who understands modern design trends yet is always looking to optimize and push past them
- Strong CPG and or print experience
- Basic understanding of retouching, color correcting, comping, and photo editing
- Have an eye for layout, color, typography with a finger on the pulse of current design trends
- Possess an exacting attention to detail and strong conceptual skills
- Mastery of the Adobe Creative suite, Illustrator, Photoshop & Indesign
- User-centric approach to concepts and design execution
- Highly functioning within a fast-paced, collaborative environment
- Excellent communication, time management and organizational skills along with the ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously with a cool, positive, upbeat personality
