As a Railway Designer, you will perform a variety of tasks which will include but is not limited to: railway operational planning, geometric design, track civil/grading design and a broad range of railway engineering opportunities to service both Freight and Commuter/Passenger design. You'll have a great opportunity to work with Stantec's experienced railway engineering group to learn with and contribute to a great team.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Use knowledge of general concepts of engineering elements through investigation and analysis, to support engineering projects that focus on transportation systems such as highways, streets, bridges, tunnels, drainage structures, roadway lighting, airports, railroads, and commuter trains.
- Perform basic calculations to analyze and design engineering system components using company standard software and proprietary manufacturer software.
- Assist team in preparing engineering designs, drawings, specifications, presentations and reports, and gather information to support design decisions.
- Assist in basic interpretation and verify compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards and practices.
- Work with other engineering disciplines and professionals in the coordination of the project under the direction of a senior engineer.
- Perform field work related to construction related activities as required.
- Assist the team in providing support services during construction that can include submittal reviews, responses to requests for information and contract document clarifications.
- Perform other duties as assigned by senior engineering staff.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering required
- Experience: Minimum of 0-2 years of related work experience experience such as internships
- Licensure/Certification: Ability to obtain Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification within 12 months of date of hire.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office software
