Cisco Meraki is the industry leader in simple, secure, intelligent networking, security and IoT platforms. We empower organizations everywhere – from local libraries to global hotels – to focus on their mission and have technology that simply works.

Cisco has been named #1 Best Company to Work For in the U.S. by Fortune in 2023!

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

We’re looking for an experienced design leader who can lead a convergence initiative across Cisco’s on-premise networking platforms. You’ll help govern and drive customer-centered UX strategy and execution of Discovery and Delivery activities with a focus on consistency, quality, and efficiency across these platforms. You will partner with the other design leaders working on the broader cloud/on-premise networking portfolio transformation.

In order to create a seamless user experience, you will need to leverage deep domain knowledge, product expertise, and an understanding of complex customer use cases and deployment models. You will partner deeply with cross-functional teams, foster relationships, and advocate for a UX-focused approach. Experience using design methods to help innovate and drive transformation is a must.

While our team's primary focus is on designing software to manage our suite of enterprise networking products, we also collaborate with teams across the organization and think about how to improve the entire customer journey. Cisco believes the quality of our products is dependent on the quality of our teams. We place a high value on nurturing the growth and development of everyone on our team. On the Design Team, we give and get feedback early and often, share what we know, and learn from each other.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Guide the design of transformational, complex workflows that span multiple products and teams
  • Lead and govern a user-centered strategy that will help drive consistency, simplicity, and quality within the Cisco Networking on-premise portfolio
  • Effectively drive a user-centered process within cross-functional teams; build relationships, and influence evolved Eng/PM/UX collaboration models
  • Represent the UX team in executive presentations, steering committee forums, and other senior leadership meetings
  • Provide direction to and mentor other designers
  • People leadership experience desired - while this role will initially have a strong design strategy focus, it could logically evolve into a people leader role
  • Drive early discovery work and partner closely with UX research to ensure user insights drive the roadmap and requirements
  • Craft stories, journey maps, and prototypes that help others envision the strategy and desired outcomes for both the customer and the business; Balance north star design for broader alignment with MVP delivery
  • Contribute through design thinking, workshop design and facilitation, sketching, and prototyping
  • Integrate with other Cisco Networking transformation initiatives including the cloud platform experience and end-to-end troubleshooting
  • Build effective working relationships with other UX leaders who, together, will play significant roles in helping drive the transformation of the Cisco Networking user experience

You're an ideal candidate if you have:

  • 12+ years of professional experience designing and delivering products in cross-functional teams from start to finish.
  • A proven track record of shipping large-scale enterprise products.
  • Led efforts to standardize and simplify feature sets across multiple platforms.
  • Made complex problems and workflows feel simple and approachable.
  • Have led transformation design programs.
  • A proven track record aligning teams around customer-centered design decisions.
  • Ability to balance strategic research and discovery with shipping often.
  • Familiarity with the networking domain or experience in a related product or field is a plus.
  • Persuasive storytelling and influence superpowers.

U.S. employees have access to quality medical, dental and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan with a Cisco matching contribution, short and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance and numerous wellbeing offerings. Employees receive up to twelve paid holidays per calendar year, which includes one floating holiday, plus a day off for their birthday. We offer additional paid time to volunteer and give back to the community. Employees are also able to purchase company stock through our Employee Stock Purchase Program.

Employees on sales plans earn performance-based incentive pay on top of their base salary, which is split between quota and non-quota components. For quota-based incentive pay, Cisco pays at the standard rate of 1% of incentive target for each 1% revenue attainment against the quota up to 100%.  Once performance exceeds 100% quota attainment, incentive rates may increase up to five times the standard rate with no cap on incentive compensation. For non-quota-based sales performance elements such as strategic sales objectives, Cisco may pay up to 125% of target. Cisco sales plans do not have a minimum threshold of performance for sales incentive compensation to be paid.
