Introduction
ASML wants to strengthen the User Experience (UX) competence. In the role as Design Thinking Lead you will make ASML IT more user-centered and more innovative by demonstrating the value of design, facilitating design sprints and training others to apply Design Thinking methods by themselves.
The UX competence is a virtual team of about one hundred people from across the company, who design services and applications that enable ASML’s customers, suppliers, and employees, to work more efficiently and effectively, with a higher level of satisfaction and adoption. Competence members spend on average 10% of their time on improving the competence itself, by participating in competence events and so-called feature teams that develop our methods and guidelines.
This vacancy is for a position in the ASML IT UX Specialist Team, which is the central ‘engine’ of the UX competence. It supports the competence with expertise around UX maturity, design systems, DesignOps, ResearchOps, UX analytics and survey development.
Role and responsibilities
Design Thinking Facilitation
- Plan, organize, and facilitate design sprints, adapting to the needs of the respective agile teams
- Do additional UX research if necessary, to ensure fact-based decision making
- Collect and structure outcomes, and motivate people to act on them
Evangelism
- Create awareness among large groups of employees about the value and principles of Design Thinking
- Pro-actively contact individual agile teams to investigate how Design Thinking methods could help them
- Develop a portfolio of examples of how Design Thinking created value for ASML
Training
- Train other UX competence members, Agile Coaches, and Scrum Masters to facilitate Design Sprints
- Develop a training program and materials with various levels for the entire IT organization
- Train yourself on the ‘agile flow to ready’, Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), and such to make sure you understand in which stage a respective agile team is
Education and experience
You are a motivated team player with effective communication skills and are naturally able to inspire and energize teams with unexpected ideas and methods. You like to create an environment in which people feel confident and can be creative, all leading up to maturing our Design Thinking culture. Working as a Design Thinking Lead means bringing the following knowledge and expertise:
- Master’s degree in an area such as Industrial Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, Marketing, or Business.
- At least five years of professional experience facilitating collaborative design processes in large organizations.
- Profound knowledge of and experience with design thinking principles in theory and practice.
- Fluent in English, verbal and written, knowledge of Dutch is a plus.
Context of the position
At ASML we invent, develop and manufacture world-leading high tech lithography machines for our chip making customers. These tailor-made machines can image billions of structures in a few seconds with an accuracy of a few silicon atoms. Our headquarters are in the heart of the Eindhoven region, also known as ‘Brainport’, Europe’s top tech hub.
The IT division supports information management, infrastructure and key business processes across ASML. The IT infrastructure, hardware and applications are critical for almost all ASML’s internal and external activities.
