Design Manager

Location: Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

On behalf of our client, we are hiring a Design Manager to lead their structural engineering and BIM design team in Vietnam. Our client is an international structural and civil engineering consultancy headquartered in Germany, specializing in delivering sustainable, high-quality solutions for industrial, commercial, and residential developments across Europe and Southeast Asia.

Joining the team as a Design Manager, you will serve as the core technical authority, overseeing projects from conceptualization through final delivery. You will collaborate closely with Project Managers and the Board of Directors to ensure engineering precision, quality compliance, and digital innovation, while actively mentoring the next generation of engineers.

• Technical Leadership & Quality Assurance: Act as the ultimate technical authority by reviewing and approving engineering calculations, design models, and specifications, ensuring strict compliance with international standards (e.g., Eurocodes).
  

• Project & Resource Management: Collaborate with Project Managers to define project scopes, estimate resources, breakdown work packages, and monitor project hours against budgets to guarantee smooth and timely deliverables.
  

• Innovative Engineering Solutions: Take full ownership of technical challenges within assigned projects, providing expert guidance and innovative structural solutions to optimize budget and timeline without compromising buildability.
  

• Quality Control & Auditing: Implement robust quality control procedures, conduct regular technical audits, and integrate client feedback to drive continuous improvement in engineering output.
  

• Team Mentorship & Development: Coach, train, and mentor junior and mid-level team members on advanced structural engineering topics, fostering a collaborative culture centered on knowledge sharing and technical excellence.
  

Job Requirements

Technical skills:

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (A Master's degree is highly preferred).
  

• Minimum of 3 to 5 years of proven experience in structural engineering, including at least 2 years in a team lead or senior engineering capacity.
  

• Extensive expertise in structural analysis, engineering calculations, and technical documentation.
  

• Proficiency in utilizing BIM tools and modern structural engineering software.
  

• Solid understanding of international building codes, industry regulations, and standards (specifically Eurocodes or equivalent).
  

Soft skills:

• Exceptional leadership capabilities with a proven track record of guiding technical teams through complex organizational and engineering challenges.
  

• Highly detail-oriented with a strong quality-first mindset and proactive risk management skills.
  

• Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken, to interact with international clients effectively and coordinate across regional teams.
  

• Fluency in English is mandatory; Vietnamese proficiency is considered a strong advantage.
