Role Summary:
The Engineer is responsible for creating detailed designs, configurations, and documentation for SCADA systems used in industrial automation, power, and renewable energy projects. This includes developing system architecture, network diagrams, and control philosophies; preparing signal lists and cable schedules; selecting appropriate hardware and communication protocols; and configuring SCADA/HMI software. The role involves close coordination with engineering, procurement, and commissioning teams to ensure that designs meet technical specifications, industry standards, and project timelines.
The Engineer is also needed to work with multiple QCAs for registration, and he needs to work on the CMS integration and do the necessary documentation.
Responsibilities & Duties:
● Design, prepare, and review SCADA architecture, CCTV architecture, PLC specifications, and SCADA server specifications.
● Prepare and validate IO Lists, Electrical Schematics, and GA diagrams.
● Review GTPs of switchgear, control gear, instruments, communication devices, CCTV, and WMS.
● Design CCTV, FAS, and WMS solutions.
● Ensure designs comply with CEA Guidelines and IEC-Standards.
● Provide technical support for pre-bid and post-bid engineering for SCADA/SAS, BESS, FAS, CCTV, and WMS.
● Prepare tentative BOQs after contract award.
● Apply F&S knowledge for STU & CTU projects to conduct Vendor Performance Analysis.
● Maintain knowledge of STU & CTU regulations for DSM, F&S, and Power Trading.
● Perform DSM calculations to support performance analysis.
● Manage OPC, FTP & SFTP-based data sharing with QCA.
● Prepare Static Data for the All-India portfolio as per State SLDC requirements.
● Prepare documentation for wind and solar plants for CMS platform integration.
● Support data integration and multi-protocol testing (OPC UA, OPC DA, Modbus TCP/IP) in the CMS.
● Manage customer access to SCADA and provide demos as per requirements.
● Coordinate with IT & Cyber Security teams for remote access to CCTV & SCADA.
● Collaborate with electrical engineers, project managers, and technicians on SCADA, CMS, and WMS implementation.
● Witness PLC panel inspections, FAT, and validate SCADA development.
● Monitor SCADA for solar and wind plant operations, including data validation and O&M support.
● Conduct site visits to coordinate SCADA solution implementation.
● Train and support O&M teams on SCADA systems and related technologies.
● Strong knowledge of SCADA communication protocols: Modbus, OPC UA, OPC DA.
● Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
● Knowledge of Wind SCADA and BESS (added advantage).
Mandatory Requirements:
● Knowledge of Forecasting & Scheduling with DSM for STU & CTU is mandatory.
● Knowledge of SCADA Communication protocols and its usage of tools.
● Renewable project exposure of 2 to 3 projects visits is mandatory.
● Knowledge of WMS & AWS as per latest guidelines.
● Basic Knowledge on SCADA, SAS & BESS.
Skills & Competencies:
● MS Office: - MS Word / Advanced Excel / Power Point.
● Design knowledge of SCADA architecture for Solar and Sub-Station Automation.
● IoT device knowledge will be an added advantage.
● Knowledge of Modbus, OPC UA, OPC DA, IEC protocol is Mandatory.
Requirements:
● Strong problem-solving skills and a self-driven approach.
● Strong communication and interpersonal skills
● B. E. / B. Tech in Electrical and Electronics or Instrumentation or Electronics and communication Engineering
● 40% travel to site and vendor's places as & when required with case-to-case basis.
● Witnessing different equipment inspections based on business requirements.
● Flexible in nature to adapt different geographical locations.
● Understanding of QCA related works with Regulations for STU & CTU.
● To have solar and wind projects field device communication protocol methods and testing the devices
Skills Required
- Bachelor of Engineering or Bachelor of Technology in Electrical and Electronics, Instrumentation, or Electronics and Communication Engineering
- Knowledge of Forecasting and Scheduling with DSM for STU and CTU projects
- Knowledge of SCADA communication protocols and related tools
- Experience visiting 2 to 3 renewable energy projects
- Knowledge of WMS and AWS according to current guidelines
- Basic knowledge of SCADA, SAS, and BESS

- SCADA architecture design experience for solar and substation automation

- Willingness to travel 40% to sites and vendors’ locations
