Inman Solar is seeking a motivated engineer for the position of Design Engineer. Working as an integral part of a knowledgeable and experienced team, the candidate will be involved in all aspects of solar project design and engineering and will see projects from conceptual design to final completion. The candidate will be responsible for creating design drawings and coordinating between design, procurement and construction. The role will require a strong understanding of the electrical and physical considerations of PV systems. A high level of project management and communication skills will be valuable to ensure a quality project is delivered on time and on budget.
The Design Engineer will work under direct supervision of a Professional Engineer.
Qualifications:
• Educational background or industry experience in mechanical, electrical, or civil engineering
• 2+ years of relevant work experience
• AutoCAD and Civil 3D experience preferred; CAD experience required
• Microsoft Excel proficiency
• Interest in sustainability and solar energy
• High level of attention to detail, time management, and organization
• Good communication skills
Responsibilities:
• Manage a team of external engineers and technicians to ensure the successful execution of
solar project designs.
• Integral contributor to the design of PV systems producing construction quality drawings
(physical layout, electrical design, installation details, etc.)
• Specify equipment and materials selection and lead procurement
• Coordinate with installers to ensure correct and efficient installation
• Travel to site to engage with constructors and support installation – expect roughly 10% travel
