ABOUT THE ROLE: 

The Deposit Operations Specialist II supports consumer and commercial deposit related products. Has a broad knowledge of deposit banking functions, regulatory requirements, along with performing the due diligence needed to ensure complete and accurate system processing. Will maintain a client focus and will partner with Treasury Specialists and sales team members to deliver a superior client experience. 

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING: 

  • Responsible for Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT) payment processing including wire transfers, debit cards, Automatic Clearing House (ACH) transactions, and check item processing.
  • Ensure return processes and handling of unauthorized transactions for ACH, debit card, and checks are handled timely and accurately.
  • Support business and retail banking platforms including, but not limited to, reviewing remote deposited items, adding accounts, creating and reviewing commercial set ups, and process monthly billing.
  • Review account documentation for Deposit and Certificate of Deposit products for completeness and accuracy.
  • Complete requests received from internal and external clients including but not limited to deposit account maintenance, asset verifications, research requests, and generate reports.
  • Assist internal departments and external clients with deposit related processing inquiries.
  • Assist in identifying and researching exceptions. Handle time-sensitive or moderately complex issues and if needed, collaborate with the senior or supervisor to resolve.
  • Ability to resolve problems with minimal guidance and make general (low) operational escalation decisions in the absence of the supervisor or manager.
  • Provide system administration support on one or more systems. 
  • Communicate system updates and outages, analyze the documentation, and propose process changes. 
  • Assist with implementation of upgrades or enhancements to current systems.
  • Create, update, and maintain written procedures in Alerus procedure (R&R) database. 
  • Identify and implement process improvements that enhance the client experience and build scale. 

WHAT YOU SHOULD HAVE: 

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent combination of education and/or related experience in the financial industry. 
  • 3-5 years of experience in bank operations. 
  • Accredited ACH Professional (AAP) and or National Check Professional (NCP) preferred. 
  • Ability to accept, support and implement continuous change. 
  • Communication and client-service skills.
  • Ability to carry out the work of deposit programs and projects, to include availability to work after hours to support business needs. 
  • Ability to manage high volume, time sensitive transactions and situations.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is typically performed in an office setting. The employee is regularly required to sit for extended periods of time. The employee is occasionally required to move about the office utilizing proper ergonomic safeguards when doing so. Additionally, the employee must occasionally lift or move supplies and materials up to 20 pounds.
