Job Description
The Industry Consultant – Datacenters is a senior, market-facing role responsible for accelerating Rockwell Automation's growth and relevance in the global data center market. You will bring deep domain expertise across power, thermal, and related automation systems in Datacenters. This expertise, combined with strong industry relationships, positions Rockwell as a trusted brand for hyperscalers, large colocation providers, EPCs, EOR's, OEMs, SI's, and consultants. You will focus on design influence and specification capture, helping customers achieve their most critical objective: speed to market and time to megawatt.
The Industry Consultant provides Rockwell and our customers with deep industry domain expertise, strategic consulting, thought leadership, and a practical approach to solving complex challenges. You will serve as a central point for technical industry insights and emerging trends. It will guide engagements by offering direction, clarity, and expertise. Additionally, it will identify key customer requirements that support their operational, technological, and digital transformation goals.
You will have influence within their region while collaborating globally with colleagues on customer opportunities, affinity teams, and strategic initiatives.
Your Responsibilities:Industry Leadership & Market Influence
- Be a trusted advisor to hyperscalers and large colo operators on power, thermal, and automation strategy
- Engage directly with owners, OEMs, consultants, EPCs, and contractors early in the design lifecycle
- Be the consultative lead and domain expert during customer interactions, workshops, and strategic discussions.
- Establish immediate credibility with customers, industry stakeholders and internal teams
- Share insights across the organization to strengthen alignment and value delivery .
- Contribute to strategic planning with Industry leads and affinity teams
- Support regional initiatives aligned with consultant's capacity and expertise.
Solution Architecture & Technical Leadership
Provide system-level guidance across core data center infrastructure:
Power Systems
- Emergency power-up sequences, backup generation (diesel/gas), UPS, switchgear
- Medium- and low-voltage distribution and grid interconnection
- EPMS requirements, architectures, and integration strategies
Thermal & Mechanical Infrastructure
- Central Utility Plant (CUP) design, operation, and automation
- Chilled water systems, cooling towers, CRAH/CRAC, and liquid cooling
- Control strategies for uptime, redundancy, and energy efficiency
Automation & Control Systems
- BAS / BMS architectures and deployment models
- SCADA and telemetry systems for power and mechanical infrastructure
- Convergence of process, building, and electrical automation (ICS/DDC)
Digital & Monitoring Platforms
- Working knowledge of DCIM systems and their role in operations
- Data integration across EPMS, BMS, SCADA, and IT layers
- Enablement of analytics, predictive maintenance, and digital twins
Commercial Impact & Execution Support
- Support large strategic pursuits
- Influence AVL positioning and standardization with hyperscalers and colo providers
- Enable regional sales and account teams with clear value propositions and architectures
- Provide structured feedback into product strategy and solution gaps
Internal Enablement & Alignment
- Be the voice of the data center industry inside Rockwell Automation
- Contribute to playbooks, training, and global best-practice sharing
- Support global programs such as Data Center Affinity programs
The Essentials - You Will Have:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of relevant work experience

- Ability to travel 30-50% of the time, with some international travel.
- A valid driver's license.
The Preferred - You Might Also Have:
- Typically requires 8+ years experience in the data center industry, including hyperscalers, colocation providers, or automation project delivery for data center power and thermal systems.
- Technical knowledge of building and power infrastructure automation, including BAS/BMS, EPMS, SCADA, telemetry, and Central Utility Plant (CUP) systems.
- Experience with critical power systems, including emergency power, backup generation, UPS, and power monitoring solutions.
- Familiarity with DCIM platforms, data integration strategies, and data center operational technologies.
- Experience supporting or delivering automation and digital transformation solutions within mission-critical data center environments.

This position is part of a job family. Experience will be the determining factor for position level and compensation.
For this role, the Total Target Compensation is from $191,200.00 - 286,800.00 USD Annual of which 80% is base salary and 20% is variable. Our benefits for the US can be found here. Actual pay will be based on factors such as skills, knowledge, education, and experience.
