Job Description
Where You Will Work:
Our corporate office is located in the Denver Tech Center. Our office spans the top two floors of the building and features expansive views of the mountains and the downtown skyline.
AIR values relationships and the benefits from working side by side with teammates, therefore this position will be in-office 3-5 days a week to support the team.
What You Will Do:
As a Database Engineer, you will be responsible for administering our on-premise and Azure data and analytics platform, which includes MS SQL, Azure Synapse, Azure Data Factory, Data Lake, and reporting as part of AIR Communities' technology ecosystem. You will ensure the smooth operation of these systems, focusing on uptime and performance. You will drive innovation and change by implementing automation and leveraging artificial intelligence tools and methods to add value. As a technical expert in our data and analytics ecosystem, you will support AIR Communities' operations, analytics, and reporting teams. Your role will involve tuning our environments to run faster and reducing cost run rates as our data volume grows.
EssentialFunctions:
- Work with stakeholders (Business partners, Infrastructure and Operations teams) to ensure smooth and secure operations of Azure data and analytics platform including Azure Synapse, ADF, Power BI etc.
- Oversee data warehouse and analytics platform performance on both on premise and Azure from implementation, maintenance to enhancements and ongoing operations
- Manage various Azure data pipelines, job schedules and systems to ensure performance and uptime
- Maintain up-to-date platform documentation and provide technical support to database, application and business intelligence (BI) developers
- Serve as primary liaison between the company and Managed Services vendor regarding all database related activity
- Perform maintenance, including upgrades and system patching, and troubleshooting activities for data stores and BI platforms in Azure and on-prem
- Ensure metadata (data catalog) are tracked for all data objects in the platform
- Perform system monitoring and performance analysis
- Perform ongoing security controls audit and review to ensure compliance
- Review system application logs and identify potential issues and improvements
- Participate in capacity planning, cloud cost analysis and cloud resources optimization
- Provide after-hour system and application support, whenever necessary
- Develop and implement various work plans for projects
Qualifications
What You Have:
- Bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, or related discipline preferred but not required.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a MS SQL Server administrator
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a system or cloud administrator
- Experience with cloud data warehouse and analytics technologies, specifically Azure Synapse, Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Bricks, Data Lake and SQL Server (SSIS and SSAS), Power BI is required
- Knowledge or experience with infrastructure (operating system and networking) and cloud administration is required
- Knowledge or experience with data access control/security models
- Knowledge or experience with CI/CD, DevOps (such as GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps)
- Azure certifications (data related)
- Experience with Agile methodologies in a cloud, database, data warehousing and BI space
- Experience in leading and managing small teams would be a plus
- BS/MS or equivalent in Computer Science or related field or a combination of technical skills, cloud, system administration and operations

What We Offer:
AIR offers attractive total compensation packages designed to recognize and reward performance including:
- Expected pay rate of $110,000- $130,000 plus 15% annual target bonus. You will be provided a pay rate that is in line with your skills and experience as they relate to the requirements of the job.
