At Xtremax, our Database Administrators ensure that data systems are secure, reliable, and optimized for performance. In this role, you’ll be responsible for provisioning databases, monitoring performance, and implementing robust security and disaster recovery measures. Your work will directly support business continuity while enabling teams to deliver secure, scalable, and high-performing applications. Candidates with public sector experience are preferred, as this role supports IT projects for government agencies.
Responsibility:
Database Provisioning & Configuration
- Provision databases with the required licenses.
- Configure databases to optimize performance, scalability, and reliability.
Security & Recovery
- Implement data security measures to protect sensitive information.
- Implement disaster recovery controls and automate recovery processes to support business continuity.
Monitoring & Performance Management
- Monitor database health, performance, user access, and security.
- Manage database parameters and optimize for efficiency and scalability.
System Support & Compliance
- Support systems to maintain a balance between usability and stringent security requirements.
- Apply configuration management best practices to ensure compliance and consistency.
Automation & Modernization
- Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for DB provisioning, scaling, and recovery.
- Automate backup, patching, and failover procedures across multiple DB platforms.
Client Partnership
- Act as DB consultants for government agencies, ensuring solutions meet both technical and policy compliance needs.
- Train and guide agency teams on secure DB management practices.
System Support & Compliance
- Enforce IM8 and ISO 27001-aligned database security policies.
- Conduct regular audits and penetration testing for DB hardening.
Monitoring & Performance Management
- Deliver advanced query performance tuning and indexing strategies.
- Proactively analyze workload trends and optimize resources for cost efficiency.
Requirements
Must Have
- A Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Computer/Electronics Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Must have 2–5 years of relevant experience.
- A passion for automation, standardization, and best practices.
- Experience working on-prem and cloud environment
- Relevant IT experience in database administration, including (but not limited to):
- MySQL
- PostgreSQL
- MongoDB
- Practical experience troubleshooting database and server performance problems.
- Hands-on expertise in:
- System DBA tasks (database management and security)
- SQL programming
- Database performance tuning and scalability
- High availability technologies and disaster recovery
Good to Have:
- Experience with Singapore Government Project will be advantageous.
- Professional certifications in database administration or security (advantageous).
- Experience with cloud technologies such as AWS RDS or similar (advantageous).
Certificate Preferred:
- Oracle Database Administrator Certified Associate / Professional / Master (OCA / OCP OCM)
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate
- IBM Certified Database Administrator
- ITIL 4 Foundation
