We’re hiring for an experienced DBA Engineer. The exact mix of other skills does not matter, so long as your tool chest includes a mix of abilities. Be willing to attack anything that comes your way, learn on the fly and get things done.

Responsibilities
Database Operations
- Support day-to-day operations of MySQL (Aurora & self-hosted), Redis, and MongoDB.
- Assist in monitoring health, applying patches, and performing backups/restores.
- Help maintain replication, HA, and disaster recovery procedures.
- Performance & Optimization
- Troubleshoot slow queries, add indexes, and support schema evolution.
- Tune databases for high-traffic and low-latency applications, including financial transaction workloads.
- Assist in capacity planning and scaling activities.
Automation & Tools
- Contribute to Terraform/Helm templates for DB provisioning.
- Support automation of routine DBA tasks (backups, alerts, failover testing).
- Work with SREs to integrate DB metrics into monitoring dashboards.
Security & Compliance
- Follow database security best practices (IAM roles, encryption, user management).
- Participate in compliance initiatives for sensitive/financial data.
Collaboration
- Work closely with backend teams on schema changes and migration reviews.
- Collaborate with senior DBA/SREs to optimize cost and performance.
- Learn and contribute to discussions on managed vs self-hosted trade-offs.
Technical Skills
- Solid experience with MySQL/InnoDB operations (replication, backups, tuning basics).
- Practical knowledge of Redis (Cluster or Sentinel) and MongoDB (replica sets).
- Familiarity with AWS services (RDS/Aurora, ElastiCache, MongoDB Atlas).
- Basic understanding of analytics/columnar databases such as ClickHouse, Apache Spark, BigQuery, or Cassandra.
- Some experience with scripting (Python, Bash) for automation.
Experience
- 2–4 years of DBA or database engineering experience.
- Exposure to production workloads handling significant traffic or large datasets.
- Experience working in a cloud-native environment (AWS preferred).
Soft Skills
- Curious and eager to learn advanced DBA practices.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Comfortable collaborating across engineering teams.
Others
- Exposure to Kubernetes and DB operators (Redis/Mongo).
- Experience with query optimization in financial or high-transaction systems.
- Interest in data analytics or data engineering tools (ETL, OLAP systems).
- Familiarity with observability tools (Grafana, Prometheus, Loki).
