Current Need

McKesson's Workforce Planning & Analytics (WP&A) team delivers better people and business outcomes through data that is business informed, business relevant, usable and actionable. As a member of the WP&A Team, the Senior Data Scientist will deliver people analytics and insights to Business Leaders and HR to drive workforce decisions using HR and market data. Through close partnerships with the WP&A team and HR, the Data Scientist will gain a sound understanding of business objectives and use consulting skills to provide and interpret insights from workforce data and will indirectly support multiple McKesson business units by delivering their people analytics needs.

This is a fast paced, highly rewarding role that makes an impact at McKesson through the ability to change the way we look at people data. The team needs an individual who is passionate about using data to drive business results, has a curious mind, and strong analytical and consulting skills. The role will use a variety of data mining and statistical/analysis methods to support the following HR Strategies and create and present effective visualizations to communicate insights effectively to leaders:

  • Develop an employee experience strategy and practice focused on creating seamless, high-impact moments for our people
  • Define, launch, and embed the employee value proposition to attract and retain the best talent
  • Advance programs and build capability to enhance wellbeing and foster inclusion and belonging for our people
  • Develop and invest in people leaders deeper in the organization to activate our strategic ambitions
  • Define what the future of work looks like for McKesson to empower flexibility - when and where work is done while sustaining culture, engagement and performance
  • Define, inventory, and build the future skills required to transform McKesson into a healthcare services company



Key Responsibilities

  • Work with stakeholders throughout the organization in support of HR Strategies
  • Identify and frame new opportunities for analysis through proactive engagements of our HR and Business Leaders at senior levels in understanding their concerns and unique challenges
  • Work closely with other cross function colleagues including Strategic Workforce Planning, Future of Work, Employee Experience and Culture, Talent Acquisition and Development teams to deliver key insights that impact the Employee Experience Lifecycle


Execute robust analyses to increase and optimize employee experience

  • Using data science & analytics, and awareness of internal and external trends, consult with HR and Business leaders to deliver insights from studies that combine different datasets and produce important and relevant correlation insights
  • Design research studies based on internal and external trends, as well as build predictive models to support and inform People programs and strategies across the Employee Experience lifecycle
  • Support various confidential studies in support of HR and Legal teams while ensuring data confidentiality and integrity
  • Deliver analysis in support of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion initiatives, and support benchmarking studies through data and analysis
  • Create and deliver ad-hoc and custom analysis to executive-level audiences



Communicate the value and insights gained through analysis to our business partners

  • Apply knowledge in quantitative and qualitative analysis, as well as data visualization, to create clear and compelling narratives that inform people programs and strategies across the Employee Experience Lifecycle
  • Design and deliver key findings through great data storytelling into visually appealing, insightful and concise presentations for Senior HR and Business Leaders including CHRO and HR Committee


Provide analytics leadership

  • Work closely with other WP&A team members to productize prototypes to deploy sustainable products
  • Conduct methodology and code reviews with peers to ensure high-quality, well-rounded work products
  • Contribute innovative advanced analytics and data science processes, methodologies and approaches to help the collective team grow and produce more value while managing bias in the delivery of products and insights
  • Mentor colleagues and HR leaders through reverse mentoring programs to increase understanding of HR People Analytics


Critical Skills

  • Ability to analyze large, complex data sets and extract meaningful information and communicate the insights in a simple and compelling way.
  • 5 or more years of demonstrated Experience with Advanced Analytics -- HR People Analytics, Workforce Intelligence, or Learning and Talent analytics preferred. (e.g., Organizational Effectiveness, HR Metrics/Analytics, Data Science, Talent Analytics, Labor Market Research)
  • Experience in core analytics methods (one or more of the following): Statistics (t-tests, Poisson process), Segmentation and clustering techniques, predictive modeling: e.g. logistic regression, linear regression, Time Series analysis
  • Strong critical thinking skills, innovative with ability to conceptualize, develop ideas and vision with curiosity and desire to seek out and solve business problems
  • Experience in creating analytics-based data visualizations in Tableau
  • Experience with Surveys and Survey analytics a plus
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel
  • Experience in SQL, relational databases
  • Experience in a programming language: e.g. R, Python
  • Strong written and oral communication skills to communicate to a wide range of audiences
  • Conveying technical requirements to non-technical audiences
  • Communicate to executives who need the big picture, or to peers that want to learn from your work


Preferred Skills

  • Self-Starter attitude with ability to take ownership and prioritize own workload to meet deliverables and timelines
  • Willingness to pitch in and be a team player in handling routine requests/projects and assist with more complex statistical/business/research issues and studies
  • Have a high learning orientation; active exploratory mind and seeking to learn from others
  • Interest in joining a highly collaborative team that has fun while producing impactful work
  • Experience with Visier a plus



Education:

MS degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Operations Research, Data Science, Management Information Systems, industrial relations, industrial organizational psychology, behavioral economics, or other related fields or equivalent experience.
