The Role

Grove’s Operations Technology team is responsible for the platform that fulfills every Grove customer orders, and enables our team to provide world class service to all of our members. In 2021, we’re launching two new teams to help us build the next generation warehouse and customer service platforms.

 

We’re looking for technologists to help grow two of our newest teams: one that works on our warehouse management platform and the second focused on our customer service and relationship management tools. Our plan is to rebuild both platforms from the ground up in the next year so we can ship products faster, more accurately, and provide even better customer service to all of our members.

 

To support both teams, we are looking for an engineer to architect our new data platform to provide that data to help guide the major decisions about technology and processes that will support our growth. You’ll get an opportunity to work closely with our team members across the US to identify and garner the data that will influence efficiency improvements that have real world ramifications (warehouse automation and robotics, fulfillment center layout, packing algorithms, etc.)

 

Your Role & Impact

You’ll be building the first generation low latency data infrastructure and systems to support our warehouse operational excellence and our in-house tool development

You’ll define the roadmap for our physical data infrastructure

You’ll build, maintain, and troubleshoot ETL pipelines for the data sources that power the company

You’ll be the organization’s data SME; best practices, processes, systems, etc.

You’ll plan for the future and ensure our data platform remains scalable and fast.

You’ll identify data sources and work with and build APIs from/for other microservices and outside services to build a holistic business perspective using data.

You’ll help us tackle some of the hardest problems in computer science, like the traveling salesman problem (pick path optimization), packing optimization (knapsack problems), and more.

 

About You

You’ve worked as a data engineer for at least 5 years in a production environment

You are fluent coding in a data capacity (Python required, R, PHP, Java, etc.) with at least 3 years experience

You’ve got at least 5 years of SQL experience (we use Postgres and RedShift)

You have strong experience with data pipeline, data modeling, query optimization and tuning, validation frameworks, etc.

You have production experience with data streaming technologies such as Spark, Kinesis, etc.

You revel in building and maintaining a data infrastructure that is resilient and performant and build the monitoring tools and automation to prove it

 

Bonus Points

You have designed and implemented data infrastructure from scratch sourcing data to help identify key metrics that drive real world operational improvements

You have production experience with machine learning (scikit, SyPy, tensorflow, etc) and data analytics.

You have previous experience in supply chain, warehouse technology, customer service, and/ or CRM.

You’re comfortable working quickly and helping the team make design and product decisions (since we own all of it.)
