The Principal Advanced Analytics Analyst for our Data Analytics, Insights and Reporting (Platforms and Programs) plays a critical role within Medtronic's Global Operations' Operational Excellence and Transformation organization. This position will drive advanced analytics and insights through business/functional engagements, analytics products development (dashboards / visualizations), and structured analysis of broad sets of data. They will lead and support various trainings, communications, and change management in support of the emerging Operations OPEX Data Analytics, Insights and Reporting team. The ideal candidate will work closely with the functional and network leaders to strategize, build and execute A&I programs and platforms that enable insights into key performance indicators (KPIs). The candidate will drive analytics and insights that will optimize operational performance and positively impact business outcomes. The candidate will also work with functional stakeholders to increase efficiency, effectiveness, and proactive decision-making via the rapid delivery of information and knowledge to users throughout Global Operations.

This is a remote-based role that can be based anywhere within the United States. Travel
A Day in the Life

 

  • Collaborate with various Analytics groups within the Global Operations and OPEX/Transformation organization to promote the key tenets of Analytics and Insights:
    • Leverage a trusted source of truth for critical information with speed and flexibility
    • Drive consumption of KPIs across the organization
    • Actively influence and drive a data-driven culture that leverages leading indicators
    • Work within the Medtronic organization to incubate and grow the best analytics talent anywhere
  • Develop, prioritize, and execute on the data analytics roadmap for adoption of operational analytics and insights activity (including real-time operational data visualization dashboards, customer segmentation and profiling, continuous improvement opportunities, predictive modeling) that will transform the organization to be data-driven and metrics-based.
  • Partner with various A&I leaders in Global Operations across the company to drive actionable insights that will improve operational performance and advisor experience. Communicate and evangelize improvement recommendations (supported by data and metrics) to the Leadership Team. Lead workshops, summits, and information sharing sessions
  • Support advanced analytics and insights needs to effect better business outcomes; assist in driving the initiatives and the realization of business benefits in partnership with other Operation teams
  • Drive a test and learn mentality across all efforts
  • Create appropriate monitoring mechanisms to measure results against goals and provide insight into corrective actions or incremental opportunities within the framework of business reviews
  • Utilize functional and technical mastery and business knowledge to consistently challenge and improve business ideas, processes and recommendations
  • Evaluate and communicate to senior management trends and emerging issues with leading data indicators that affect current business strategies and indicate new strategic opportunities
  • Share best practices of A&I efforts across the company, and build collateral to source and store this information for everyone's consumption across Global Operations
  • Promote and drive a 'data-literate' culture in Global Operations
  • Manage Data Products build using agile project methodologies and use of tools like Version One, MS Project, other.
  • Promote a support infrastructure to solve current business challenges at scale; own and manage information catalog content to support Global Operations analytics
  • Support data stewardship and data governance activities and initiatives as needed.
  • Collect, validate, model, and maintain datasets for consumption by analytics products
  • Support Global Operations leaders in building a reporting infrastructure into a leading-edge holistic business intelligence environment that clearly demonstrates if the players are winning or losing
  • Advocate for and fully leverage MDT owned business intelligence technologies; implement new capabilities based on the evolving needs of Global Operations
  • Develop relationship across the matrix to influence and lead by example to improve Medtronic PLC knowledge
  • Work with Data Analytics, Insights and Reporting team to standardize data definitions and language by partnering with Information Technology in providing a common A&I infrastructure design via the creation of technology solutions
  • Build dashboards and visualization prototypes to conceptualize the usage of data to make business decisions
  • Apply Change Management tools and methodology to drive change

 

Must Have (Minimum Requirements)

 

 

  • Bachelors degree and minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience.

Nice to Have

 

 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Data/Advanced analytics, Computer Science, Management, Economics, Statistics, or other related disciplines
  • Master's Degree in Data/Advanced analytics, Computer Science, Management, Economics, Statistics, or other related disciplines
  • 10+ years of experience in analytics in a global Healthcare or Medical Technology company, preferably in support of operational efficiency and client satisfaction continuous improvement efforts.
  • 3+ years of experience in the medical device industry and consulting
  • Proficient in advanced Excel, SQL and analytics/reporting tools
  • Broad business understanding and ability to apply to current issues
  • Six Sigma Belt certification and/or Lean Sigma certification and experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Quality System, QSR and ISO regulations
  • Experience in change management, training and communications
  • Ability to interface with all groups and levels to solve problems and create solutions
  • Strong leadership, influencing, interpersonal, and team building skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication, and presentation skills
  • Strong process thinking, analytical mindset, and data analysis skills
  • Ability to travel approximately 20% of the time
