You will raise the level of success for the core database team by working with your management and your team to create and implement new and or improved standardized procedures for database management, further our existing industry best practices and controls, and oversee the installation, security and define the future roadmap of growth for the organizations database infrastructure.
The successful candidate will also be an experienced manager of database teams, possess extensive knowledge of SQL database architecture with a focus on MySQL or similar relational database frameworks, and understand how to lead and mentor their team. Experience with Microsoft SQL is a plus.
What you'll do:

  • Supervise the day-to-day tasks for the team, provide mentorship, and be able to assist in the overall responsibilities as needed.
  • Implement and enforce security best practices and overall database best practices through controls, procedures, and documented policies.
  • Manage SQL code reviews and verify that proper testing of changes has occurred and been approved by the relevant parties.
  • Ensure clients data confidentiality, integrity and availability.
  • Coordinate database maintenance, migrations, upgrades, troubleshooting, and validate using diagnostic tests.
  • Review performance metrics, identify/manage areas for performance optimizations and overall areas of improvement and scalability.
  • Stay current with trends in database best practices and ensure current and accurate documentation is present.
  • Prepare and or present performance reports to management.


What you'll bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science or equivalent degree and or experience.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Minimum of 2-4 years of management experience managing database teams.
  • 4-7 or more years of experience as a database administrator.
  • Prior experience in a SaaS model environment using Amazon's AWS or Microsoft's Azure.
  • Advanced proficiency with relational databases specifically MySQL. Microsoft SQL experience and knowledge is a plus.
  • In-depth knowledge of database technologies, architecture, and best practices including data security.
  • Experience working with development teams.
  • Strong leadership, motivated with excellent problem-solving skills.
