Functions include database architecture, engineering, design, optimization, security, and administration as well as data modeling, storage engineering, data provisioning and other similar roles. Responsibilities include management of data design services, providing sizing and configuration assistance, ensuring strict data quality, and performance improvement assessments. Analyzes current business practices, processes and procedures as well as identifying future business opportunities for leveraging data storage and retrieval system capabilities. Duties include design of schemas, write SQL or other data markup scripting to support development of Analytics and Applications that build on top of data.
Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with development and architecture teams to properly engineer effective database solutions that ensure reliability, quality, and scalability.
  • Assist with design, development and implementation of database architecture and database solutions for new "Speed-to-Market" SOA-based Agile projects underway.
  • Perform analysis and end-to-end execution from roadmap to implementation of database consolidations, migrations, conversions, and upgrades.
  • Provides Applications DBA leadership and is accountable for the performance of data engineering staff.
  • Drive design, build and management of large, complex Oracle databases running on Oracle 19c environments on Exadata and Linux with features for data compression, partitioning, RAC, RMAN and Data Guard.
  • Lead analysis of business and application requirements to translate into new or modified database or data capabilities.
  • Educate and influence stakeholders to promote an understanding of the environments, increase simplification, risk management, and promote reuse and innovation.
  • Work to reduce complexity and cost in database environments through analysis and implementation of database consolidation and rationalization.
  • Collaborate and participate in application release planning and implementation.
  • Work with onshore and offshore database partners to ensure availability, performance, quality, and Service Level Agreement specifications.
  • Resolve complex incidents (e.g. Data issues, performance tuning, security).
  • Create and maintain roles, assign privileges and responsible for database level security.
  • Review and deploy database related application code and troubleshoot failed code deployments.
  • Write code using Oracle's PL/SQL language and review developer codes.
  • Review database log files and daily reports to identify possible issues.
  • Support developers with answering database related questions, as necessary.
  • Maintain database related documentation and standards.
  • Write shell scripts to automate routine tasks.
  • Provides clear direction to achieve goals, creating an environment that fosters team commitment and employee engagement.

Required Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years of experience with implementations, upgrades, conversions, and consolidation projects with Oracle databases
  • Experience administering Oracle 19c RAC Exadata .
  • DBA experience with ability to work with development teams on DB architecture and design.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and debug complex technical problems.
  • Ability to plan resource requirements from high level specifications.
  • Solid knowledge of Oracle 19c and technical database concepts, such as: logical relational data modeling, physical data modeling, tuning large instances, resource management, data replication and backup/recovery techniques.
  • Proficient in writing and optimizing SQL statements.
  • Solid proficiency in Oracle RDBMS database management in Exadata/Linux.
  • Solid command of structured query languages (Oracle SQL, PL/SQL, ANSI-SQL).
  • Solid command administering database security, data recovery, performance monitoring and tuning.
  • Full COVID-19 vaccination is an essential requirement of this role. Candidates located in states that mandate COVID-19 booster doses must also comply with those state requirements. Preferred Qualifications:

  • Healthcare insurance industry experience
  • Familiarity with other databases such as MySQL, MS SQL Server, MongoDB, etc.
  • Solid organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities
