MathWorks is looking for a dynamic individual to lead our information architecture practices. The successful candidate will be passionate about data architecture, skilled in data modeling, and data governance. In this highly visible role, you will lead and drive change across the organization by working on cross-functional, strategic initiatives. The Information Architect must be visionary, with the ability to conceive and portray the big picture. In this role, you will initiate, evaluate, and influence projects, and set standards for data architecture, data management, and data governance and ensure they are applied throughout the enterprise. You will also initiate key projects needed to close the gap between the current state and future goals. You will ensure that the overall data architecture balances business needs and technology alignment in order to meet our business strategy.
Responsibilities
- Develops effective data architecture solutions that not only satisfy immediate project requirements but also align with a strategic vision, delivering a coherent, reusable, reliable and phased architecture to help the business grow
- Manages risks associated with data and IT assets through the development, use and promotion of the appropriate standards, security, privacy, and governance policies
- Leads projects and collaborates with teams to create and deliver simple, elegant solutions to complex business problems within project deadlines
- Translates business strategy and vision into a data strategy through partnerships with key business stakeholders
- Conducts solution architecture design reviews for enterprise application solutions across all aspects of solution design including infrastructure and distributed deployment (including public cloud and SaaS), information/data architecture, integrations. Ensure solutions are fit for purpose and closely align with architectural guidelines.
- Negotiates data architecture solutions with multiple parties and interests and presents architectural designs and technical visions to cross-functional teams.
- Governing data more effectively by defining data governance framework to establish process changes, data owners, and enforcing, monitoring via tools for key sensitive data like PII, Customer IP, HR sensitive data etc.
- Partner with Security and Privacy teams to ensure data is secure and in compliance with GDPR, CCPA, Data Privacy and data retention policies.
- Define architecture principles for transactional, data warehousing platform ( Data Lake vs DW) and Customer Data Platform.
Minimum Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree and 18 years of professional work experience (or equivalent experience) is required.
Additional Qualifications
- Prior experience as an enterprise data architect in a large enterprise supporting large diverse user communities and business domains
- Possesses a broad knowledge of information technology architectures, principles, deployment, and operating models along with their application
- Effective interpersonal skills and collaborative style to foster teamwork, influencing in a matrix environment, and demonstrated ability to lead technical systems projects and staff.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience with big data solutions
- Prior experience in the high-tech industry
- Working knowledge of enterprise data management solutions and platforms (i.e., MDM, data governance, metadata management, ETL, data quality management, data warehouse management)
- Working knowledge of code migration practices, database changes, and various stages of data sets through the development life cycle
- Experience in cloud based environments a plus
- Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills including communicating complex technical content to a range of audiences
- Knowledge of applying security to data
