ClassDojo's mission is to give every child on Earth an education they love.

We started by building a network that connects teachers, children, and families. ClassDojo’s flagship app is the #1 communication app connecting K-8 teachers, children, and families, globally. They use it to share what’s happening throughout the day through photos, videos, messages, and activities. It is actively used at an unprecedented scale: in over 95% of US schools, reaching ~51 million children in ~180 countries. We are now beginning to use this network to give kids the best learning experiences in the world, far beyond those a standard school can provide.

We hire for talent density. Our team comprises the most talented, entrepreneurial, and innovative teammates from around the world, with deep backgrounds in education and large scale consumer internet, including Instagram, Netflix, Dropbox, Uber, Y Combinator, and more. We’re building a company where the most talented people want to work. We believe you’ll do the best work of your life here—and you’ll pioneer the future of education, too.

What you’ll do:

Data is core to how ClassDojo makes informed choices. As our data science manager of network growth, you’ll help build the world's largest consumer education business, one that is already reaching tens of millions of parents, teachers, and children.

The data science function at ClassDojo is an equal partner to product, engineering, and design. Here you'll build a team that will tackle a broad range of product and business problems: uncovering unique user insights, identifying and testing critical product improvements, and driving direct product results.

You will be a match if:

  • You have at least 8 years experience in a data science role
  • You have at least 4 years experience of building high-performing data teams, but you are also highly proficient at diving into data yourself

You might be a good fit if:

  • You have expert knowledge in driving network growth: you’ve previously driven substantial improvements within product growth teams and you have a strong vision for how a network growth team should operate.

You are a strong strategic problem-solver: you thrive in identifying and refining problems to solve. You have the ability to think about high level about product strategy and you have a vision for how data can help drive that strategy. You contribute to high-level strategic choices with the rest of the product and executive teams.

You are a strong player-coach: you’re a strong coach for your people. You have experience hiring and managing groups of highly-talented data scientists.

You are a strong communicator: you are able to clearly articulate your thinking, verbally and in writing. You proactively share your work, even if it’s still in progress, bringing the team along with you. You have a sharp ambiguity filter, always seeking to clarify what is unclear for yourself and for others.

You get energized by doing “hands-on” work:

    • You are able to take complicated problems and boil them down to their simplest components
    • You have the ability to write structured and efficient SQL queries on large data sets
    • You have experience designing AB/multivariate tests and drawing actionable conclusions
