What You'll Do

  • Perform analysis of transactions patterns and alerts to create a fine-tuned report for Fraud Specialist to deep dive working with the Sr. Analyst
  • Observe customer transactions to identify fraudulent activity such as account take over (ATO), friendly fraud (FF), ID theft, stolen financials or similar fraud trends.
  • Perform timely, thorough and quality decisioning of suspect transactions minimizing customer impact, providing positive customer experience, and minimizing fraud risk
  • Perform a wide variety of investigations with limited oversight into the activity of our customers, staying alert for indications of fraud or abuse
  • Reviews fraud attacks to understand and address coverage gaps
  • Participates in quarterly and annual fraud loss forecasting exercises
  • Develops insights and rules to deliver fraud loss plan
  • Uncovers and resolves process gaps throughout the Bank
  • Provides alert support to address emerging threats
  • Fraud Rule Management
  • Remain current with emerging fraud typologies and apply that knowledge to the current investigation
  • Improve our efficiency, quality, and the customer experience in collaboration with team members
  • Maintain a queue of active investigations, communicating with customers electronically
  • Escalate new fraud trends and typologies to team members and management
  • Cross-train across team functions to provide support, as needed
  • Continue to look for opportunities to improve detection of fraud
  • Act at all times in a manner that is ethical and aligned with the regulatory obligations of the firm, and our partners
  • A variety of other duties aligned with your unique skills, as our firm and its obligations expand and evolve

What You'll Bring

  • SIE and S99 required to be obtained within 120 days of start
  • 4+ years of previous banking, payment, and FinTech experience along with ACH, Card Not Present (CNP) fraud knowledge/methodology experience preferred.
  • 4+ year of experience in fraud or loss prevention
  • Experience with various fraud prevention solutions, identification of fraud risk factors and utilization of 3rd party validation tools
  • Experience in processing or identifying chargebacks, and unauthorized returns or claims relating to financial transactions
  • A deep understanding of banking and investment products
  • A highly motivated, detail-oriented individual in possession of good judgment and strong problem resolution skills.
  • Ability to develop basic SQL queries
  • Good knowledge of payment channels (Check, ACH, Debit and Credit) and risks associated
  • The entrepreneurial mentality to do what it takes to achieve our goals, without having someone telling you what to do
  • Innate curiosity, tenacity, and persistence are needed to pursue the root cause of fraudulent activities.
  • Natural inquisitive nature and appreciation for doing research and investigative type of work.
  • Strong analytical skills like pattern recognition, identification of inconsistencies and deductive reasoning.
  • Experience in identifying false positives
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated attention to detail
  • Curiosity; when your work is finished, you are driven to enrich yourself and your team by learning and applying new things
  • Strong proficiency with personal computers and business productivity software

Bonus Points

  • Proficiency with cloud-based business intelligence, content management or case management software
  • Demonstrated and substantial success in building processes, creating business value, or creating uniquely fantastic customer experiences at scale; bonus if any of these were in a financial services environment
  • Experience working in a fast-paced startup environment
