WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We are looking for a Director, Applied Analytics with a solid history of analytical team collaboration and building business partner relationships. The ideal candidate is a skilled communicator who can express complex concepts and ideas in a simple manner (written, presentation and verbal). You have hands-on experience working with real-world advanced analytics challenges and managing multiple projects. We're looking for someone who can use and champion data analytics and data quality standard methodologies. Key skills include: Partner management, ability to source for your own data, familiarity with retail supply chain, and solid understanding of performance measurement.
WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON
In this role, you will design innovative and effective solutions to unique or complex Nike challenges and opportunities in support of targeted operational and business priorities and objectives. You will develop predictive or explanatory models and/or experimentation processes that help Nike understand, describe and predict customer behaviors. You will craft end-to-end testing, research, and analytic plans to find opportunities to accelerate growth and improve consumer experience.
The Global Express Lane team will be your primary customer. This team is a vertical business unit, with decision rights in product, materials, sourcing, supplier capacity optimization, inventory planning & flow, through account allocations. This presents unique, enterprise-wide opportunities for optimizations.
WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH
Work with key partners to understand requirements and improve opportunities to drive knowledge into action. You will mentor and develop other analytics professionals and guide the team in fixing and resolving issues.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, statistics, decision science, applied math, physics, market research, econometrics, behavioral science or other quantitative field. Suitable combination of education and experience accepted.
- Advanced quantitative degree a plus
- 8-9 years in Data Science or Advanced Analytics via predictive or explanatory models and/or experimentation processes
- Expertise in Excel, and at least one production-quality programming languages (e.g. Java, Python, C++)
- Core mathematical ability to understand, use and innovate on innovative machine learning algorithms
- Experience with agile development methodologies preferred
- Experience with moderate to large-scale data sets (>100GB) preferred
- Experience translating business questions and using analytical techniques to provide an answer
- Experience with a scripting language for data processing and development (R, Python)
- Strong Data Querying skills (SQL, Spark)
- Experience developing and implementing metrics to measure business performance
- Capable of driving projects that span multiple business units (e.g., sourcing, manufacturing, demand planning) and geographies
