As Data Scientist working for Zipcar's Revenue Management team you will be leading efforts to solve for complex theoretical problems including demand forecasting, price elasticity & member segmentation. Your research, analysis and modeling will be focused on achieving the challenging combination of improving both the member experience as well as financial performance. As the cities we operate in change and our member's preferences evolve it is your job to help shape the future of Zipcar and our product offering.

What you will do:

  • Lead the development of Zipcar's member demand forecasting model which powers downstream decisions including pricing, availability, and fleet.
  • Own the model validation framework and deployment of new model enhancements which support key business objectives including enhancing the member experience and profitability.
  • Conduct advanced spatial analysis to identify local consumption patterns and demand profiles.
  • Work with different stakeholders including data engineering to automate and improve specific areas of the team's operating model.

  • You will have a lot of responsibility and autonomy on projects. You will be able to

    see a clear business impact from your work.

What drives success in this role:

  • 2-5 Years of experience from predictive modeling, statistics and research related to demand forecasting (time series modeling is a plus).
  • Strong sense of data science methodology and high emphasis on process/documentation.
  • Knowledge and interest in spatial analysis research.
  • Comfortable building and validating models using Python, SQL & business intelligence tools.
  • The ability to understand business tradeoffs when building models. I.e., Time x

    Complexity vs. real-world impact.

  • A Bachelor's Degree or above in a Scientific field. Ideally Mathematics, CS, or
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders such as Data Engineering, Revenue Management, and Operations.
  • Interest in the transportation sector.
