Summary:
In this role, you will help drive Vivint's data platform. You will work with a talented team of data scientists and engineers to provide insights into Vivint's by:
- Building pipelines and tools to help us deal with an ever-increasing stream of IoT data.
- Partnering with product teams to ensure data is flowing correctly and we are ready to provide insights into their products.
- Develop data pipelines to help data scientists and analysts gain new insights into our products.
- Help define and drive our self-service roadmap. I.e., how do we get data into more people's hands?
- Help improve our current data platform and architecture as well as investigating and learning new technologies that will help meet future analytical needs
Primary Responsibilities:
- Evolve data model and data schema based on business and engineering needs
- Develop tools supporting self-service data pipeline management (ETL)
- Maintaining current data pipelines and data lake architecture
- Partner with Data architects, Data Scientist, Product engineering teams and Product Managers to conceptualize solutions & build the tools and pipelines that drive business decisions and increase value to our customers
Required Skills:
- Minimum of 4 years of professional experience in data analysis or data engineering
- Experience with Big Data/Hadoop applications.
- Experience with different data formats (Parquet, Arvo, Json, XML, etc.)
- Experience bringing in data from multiple Data Sources / API's
- Building and Debugging Data Pipelines
- Distributed systems (pipelines and databases)
- Proficient in Python development for data pipelines and automation, including debugging, testing, and handling development. At least 2 years experience preferred.
- Experience in Linux environments, batch automation, and shell scripts
Nice to Have
- Experience with data science and machine learning is a plus
- Experience working with real time data
- Experience with Spark, Hive, Kafka, and Map Reduce is a huge plus
- SQL experience and strong background in optimizing SQL queries for transforming data.
- Experience with Apache Airflow or Apache NiFi
- Experience working with IOT data.
- Familiarity with Tableau or other visualization tools.
Required Education/Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
