Data Engineer

The primary role of our Data Engineer is to provide hands-on data systems architecture and development and ensure the timely delivery of high-quality, robust, and scalable solutions for our Data needs. 

This person will be a thought-leader, with real-world business common sense and the ability to collaborate across functions. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of Big Data, analytics, DevOps, and process automation. In addition, this person would have exceptional communication skills and experience building data processes.

As the team expands in the future, you may also collaborate with data scientists, other data engineers, and analysts to establish/ensure data integrity, grow a pro-data culture, and ensure appropriate data access to all our teams.

What You Will Do:

Data - General

•Collaborate on executing the strategic vision for our data architecture with the CTO. 

•You will develop/implement ETL solutions, design/optimize databases, integrate with various external systems and services, and productize data flows for our analysts, internal products, and external client products. 

•Our data needs will evolve throughout the coming years so we will need to execute the general strategy, but be flexible enough to tackle special challenges as they come up. 

•This is a unique opportunity to take the lead on setting the foundation for our business of world-class data and deliver value on a large scale as we grow.

AWS and Google Cloud

•Use your experience in multiple cloud data solutions, including Redshift, BigData, RDS, and others to ensure we are using the right tools for each data job. 

•Collaborate with the CTO and senior engineering management to build processes around adding to and editing data in the warehouse.

•Have experience spinning up and scaling data warehousing solutions as the company grows.

Leadership and Cross-Functional

•Providing technical leadership for data architecture and design optimized for scalability, maintainability, and security.

•Collaborate with product and engineering teams on architecting and developing simple to complex data integration strategies using a variety of approaches.

•Work with Product and Engineering teams on better DevOps, deployment, CI/CD, Testing approaches to enhance productivity and velocity, especially around data.

•Work with analysts in other departments to ensure they have the data they need in an extremely rapid manner and work with engineering to ensure it is being provided to the data pipeline throughout the engineering process of new features.

Who are you:

•3+ years of large-scale Data Warehouse design and engineering, and experience in data and process automation.

•4+ years of engineering experience with a proven track record of delivering enterprise-grade software, with a special emphasis on python techniques and frameworks.

•Experience with large enterprise data warehouse architecture design.

•Strong experience with traditional relational database management systems (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc) and SQL skills.

•Strong experience with NoSQL systems and techniques.

•A deep understanding of data governance and privacy concerns.

•Extensive experience architecting and building solutions using modern cloud and distributed system stacks (GCP, Azure, etc.)

•Experience with Various CI/CD techniques, technologies, and platforms.
