Your Role and Responsibilities

IBM Cloud and Cognitive Expert Labs is hiring a talented versatile Data Engineer with TS
clearance who is passionate about helping customers use the latest IBM Data and AI computing
technologies to solve real-world problems by infusing AI into their business processes. You will
design and implement DataOps solutions to deliver trusted, business-ready data throughout the
data lifecycle, allowing customers to improve efficiency, data quality and findability. You will
work closely with Data Scientists and Data Stewards on customer and delivery teams to design,
develop and optimize data integration pipelines and data governance solutions to address mission
needs. As a Data Engineer in the Cloud and Cognitive Expert Labs Federal Delivery
organization you will:

Leverage customer data assets to meet mission needs, ensuring efficient data loading, consistent data quality, and providing effective data governance

Work in an agile, collaborative environment, partnering with customer stakeholders, to develop and improve solutions that have a mission impact.

Work with clients to efficiently access data from a broad range of sources using both
standard and custom connection mechanisms, developing optimal data pipelines

Develop prototypes, proof of concepts, and solutions using IBM Cloud Pak for Data
technologies such as Watson Knowledge Catalog, DataStage and other technologies

You are technically forward-thinking, passionate about embracing new technology and
developing your technical skills

You have strong technical and analytical abilities, a knack for driving impact and growth,
and extensive experience with cloud native computing technologies

You are great at solving problems, debugging, troubleshooting, and designing &
implementing solutions to complex technical issues

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

US Citizen with active TS clearance

Deep experience with governance, data integration and related technologies (for example:
Information Governance Catalogue, Information Analyzer, Watson Knowledge Catalog,
Guardium, Advanced Data Privacy, Data Virtualization, DataStage, Kafka, NiFi, etc.)

Experience building and optimizing data integration pipelines and architectures

Experience with relational and non-relational data stores (for example: Hadoop, Object
Stores, Hadoop, Db2, Netezza, MangoDb, EDB), Data Lake and Data Fabric concepts

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or an engineering discipline

Location in Washington, DC metro area

Preferred Technical and Professional Experience

Knowledge of data modelling techniques

Experience with IBM Cloud Pak for Data and OpenShift

Experience with Linux/Windows administration

Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing

Ability to convey technical information in business terms

Experience working with federal government contracts, procedures, standards and
specifications
