Job Description CCOR- Global Data Risk Management & Privacy
Data Risk Director

The Compliance, Conduct and Operational Risk (CCOR) Program sets forth JPMorgan Chase & Co.'s (JPMC's) second line of defense coverage of compliance, conduct, and operational risk. CCOR establishes policies and standards that set forth the requirements for the Lines of Business (LOBs) and Corporate Functions (CFs) and enables oversight and independent assessment over compliance, conduct, and operational risks inherent within the firm's activities.
As part of CCOR, the Global Data Risk Management & Privacy (GDRM) team focuses on execution of the Compliance and Operational Risk oversight of data management governance, controls, and remediation activities in the first line of defense. GDRM provides on-going oversight and challenge to first line activities through governance, risk assessments, and independent monitoring and testing. GDRM is comprised of teams focusing on Compliance, Operational Risk, Reporting & Analytics, and Horizontal Risk Assessment and is led by the firm's Global Chief Privacy Officer (GCPO).
The Data Risk Director will lead the development and implementation of a framework and best practices that provides a horizontal view of data risk management across the first line of defense. Additionally, this role will work with GDRM teams, business management, Legal, Controls Management, Internal Audit, and other CCOR teams to translate GDRM strategy and goals across the firm's clients, products, and regions this role will report directly to the firm's GCPO.
Responsibilities:
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to the following.

  • Partner with key stakeholders across the firm to incorporate data risk management op model, policies and standards, and best practices into first-line activities in support of the risk and control assessment, measurement, and monitoring programs.
  • Engage in independent assessment and challenge first line's standards, procedures, governance and oversight, and strategy, including implementation plans, evaluation of key data risks, privacy, and compliance risk and controls.
  • Provide practical and analytical advice on LOB/CF integration of requirements into applicable procedures, controls, and training, including advising on implementing improvements and stakeholder development and implementation of appropriate corrective actions.
  • Participate in appropriate committees, forums, other governing bodies, and key meetings to socialize the Data Risk Management op model, provide independent challenge, and or communicate key findings, issues, action plans related to data risk management.
  • Understand the risk profile as assessed by the business, the risks and performance indicators, and other controls to identify trends and potential control gaps.
  • Provide independent view of the business and/or function control environment, mitigation strategies, and emerging risk.
  • Engage and influence senior stakeholders within the first, second, and third lines of defense in order to identify, assess, and aggregate compliance and/or operational risk across different businesses and functions and (where appropriate) provide results.
  • Potentially lead a team of second line professionals, ensuring a strong culture with continuous professional development and effective performance management.
  • Partner with CCOR stakeholders, including technology operational risk management and compliance and TPO, to ensure comprehensive second line coverage and challenge of data risks.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • At least 10 years of experience in compliance or operational risk within the financial services industry.
  • At least 10 years of experience in the field of data governance, data management, or privacy and data protection.
  • Strong presentation skills with an ability to communicate complex concepts in a clear manner
  • Ability to interact with all levels of the firm
  • Excellent verbal, written, and independent communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Team player, with the ability to work collaboratively with functional, line of business, regional, and global stakeholders
