Description: The Business Intelligence Data Analyst is responsible for gathering requirements from hospital and ambulatory executives, specifications, designing and developing solutions, testing, validation and testing, implementation and ongoing support of business intelligence solutions and dashboard. This position works in the IT department and collaborates with the business unit to facilitate reporting using Epic tools on departmental metrics. The analyst will utilize reporting tools including Crystal Reports or Power BI to develop reports and dashboard. The Business Intelligence Data Analyst is responsible for delivering accurate and complete reporting on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis for their assigned department. The data for each business unit may be in the form of excel files and database queries, or may not exist and may need collaboration between the business unit, IT and operations. Typical Duties:

  1. Analyzes patient population data to develop performance improvement plans and strategies through analysis of related data and trends using SQL.
  2. Reports results of statistical analyses, including information in the form of graphs, charts, and tables.
  3. Analyzes and interprets statistical data to identify significant differences in relationships among sources of information using statistical formulas.
  4. Synthesizes current business intelligence or trend data to support recommendations for action.
  5. Checks source data to verify completeness and accuracy including end to end data validation before report is released in the production environment.
  6. Analyzes variances and data trends and prepare reports, charts and other outputs as required. Converts information into insightful findings and actionable recommendations to optimize existing and future operations across the company.
  7. Provides high-quality recurring and ad-hoc performance reports to assist senior management with operational decisions, as required.
  8. Prepares a monthly reporting package that includes clinical, financial, operational, competitive, and patient satisfaction metrics to analyze key business trends.
  9. Analyzes and completes business intelligence report and dashboard requests and provides support for assigned Epic applications and systems under guidance from management.
  10. Performs testing and data validation for reports and dashboard delivering accurate reports and solutions.
  11. Modifies existing reports and creates additional basic reports as required.
  12. Ensures deliverables are approved by the appropriate users and are completed and obtain end-users sign-off on reporting deliverables.
  13. Reviews and ensures final product for accuracy and completeness meeting management expectations.
  14. Follows communication and project documentation standards and processes.
  15. Ensures report match to actual business needs within the context of new and existing workflows and applications.
  16. Performs analysis of end-user report requirements to understand the reporting need.
  17. Validates the report with the end-user and ensures end-user knows how to access the report.
  18. Performs all other job related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

    Required Education and Experience:
  • Bachelors Degree from an accredited four-year college or university
  • OR

  • High School Diploma or GED2 plus years of experience in data analysis
  • Preferred Education and Experience:

  • 2 plus years of related experience in a healthcare environment.
  • 2 plus years Epic Clarity experience.
  • 2 plus years of IT relational database SQL reporting experience.
  • Required Licensure/Certification/Specialized Training:

  • Must obtain current proficiency or certification in assigned data model(s). (i.e.) Epic certification in appropriate module(s) required within specified time frame following class completion and analyst who support Epic modules must maintain certification on current version of Epic.
  • Preferred Licensure/Certification/Specialized Training:

  • Successfully completed the Microsoft Querying Microsoft SQL Server 2012/2014 Exam (70-461)
