Zions Bancorporation seeks a detail-oriented Business Analyst for our Enterprise Portfolio Management - Standards and Governance department in Salt Lake City, Utah. The Business Analyst will play a vital role in our project portfolio planning and capacity planning activities as well as contributing to refinement and management of our technology delivery methodology, standards and associated process controls and guidelines.

We are looking for someone who is engaging, proactive, quickly grasps new processes and has a continuous improvement mindset. Our ideal candidate can work on multiple initiatives simultaneously, feels comfortable engaging people at all levels of the organization and holding people accountable to established processes. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are needed as well as strong analytical skills.

What will your day look like? You will:

  • Work with various teams internal to and external to Enterprise Technology and Operations (ETO) to collect information needed to support project portfolio planning activities, project funding approval meetings, project estimation activities, process improvement and training activities and resource capacity planning.
  • Generate reporting, analyze the data and follow-up on resource capacity planning activities
  • Formulate proposals for new processes, guidelines, procedures, standards, and policies
  • Gather information and generate executive reporting
  • Assist with development of training materials for Project Managers, Scrum Leaders, Release Train Engineers, Business Analysts, Product Owners, and resource managers
  • Operate with a continuous improvement mindset
  • Perform system administration for a resource capacity planning system or other portfolio management tools
  • Drive adoption of methodologies throughout delivery organization
  • Develop subject matter expertise and work with Senior managers in resource management, our project management methodology, and interdependencies management
  • Provide administrative support for the funding approval process of the company's most critical technology initiatives



Who should apply?

We want a highly-motivated individual and a self-starter who has:

  • Experience in business analysis, project management, multiple technologies, frameworks, systems or other directly related experience
  • Knowledge of software development, business analysis procedures, agile delivery practices including Scaled Agile Framework, project management techniques and practices preferred
  • Requires extensive analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong presentation and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Balance of critical and solutions-focused thinking - taking strategic approach to problem solving
  • Ability to work with both management and staff employees
  • Must be able to meet deadlines
  • Solid knowledge of various software programs, including Microsoft Office Suite particularly MS Excel.
  • Bachelor's in computer science, Information Systems, Business Administration or another related field preferred
  • Willingness to take on additional responsibilities as assigned

A combination of education and experience may meet requirements.

Location: This opportunity is located in our brand new Zions Technology Center (We have a hybrid schedule of 3 days in the office and 2 days at home if you are within the Salt Lake City area).
