Excitingly Tempus is expanding and opening a new office in Boston/Cambridge MA. We are looking for talented Senior Bioinformatician and Data Wrangler to join our team. In this role, the successful candidate will collaborate in major strategic alliances with a world leading biopharmaceutical organization. As a Tempus employee you will have access to the world’s largest real-world patient clinical data set linked to genetics, transcriptomics and digital pathology. Integrating Tempus’ data and platforms with external data and resources, you will deliver transformational impact across the entire drug R&D lifecycle. You will also develop methodology and algorithms advancing cancer precision medicine for Tempus patients.
Responsibilities:
Partner with a major pharma client to design, develop and execute computational research leveraging the Tempus platform to advance drug R&D programs.
Become an expert in Tempus’ genomic, imaging, and medical databases and pipelines.
Become an expert in the pharma clients’ genomic data systems and biomarker strategies.
Collaborate with the pharma client’s scientific and technical teams to co-architect solutions and projects.
Identify and integrate optimal collections of multimodal big data from public and proprietary sources, and harmonise associated experimental and clinical metadata.
Troubleshoot data quality issues with lab teams and genomic and real-world data managers.
Collaborate with Research, Engineering & Data teams at Tempus to develop and deliver innovative computational data solutions, tools, analytical pipelines and automation.
Communicate client feedback to influence improvements in the Tempus platform.
Document, summarize and communicate highly technical results and methods clearly to non-technical audiences.
Help build Tempus’ reputation within the Greater Boston biotech and tech community.
Author whitepapers and peer reviewed manuscripts.
Preferred Qualifications:
PhD (or Masters and 2+ years of employment) in a directly relevant field e.g. Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Biomedical Informatics, or similar.
Experience in cancer genetics, immunology, or molecular biology.
Comfort in a client facing role.
Expert in secondary and tertiary analysis of next-generation sequencing and transcriptomic data.
Extensive experience with public genomic and medical data repositories.
Expert at integrating data from disparate sources.
Experience harmonizing genomic, biological, experimental and medical metadata.
Proficient with relational data systems (eg SQL and REST API’s).
Proficient with R (inc Bioconductor) or Python programming for algorithm development.
Experience in Cloud computing (GCP or AWS)
Experience in multiple of:
FAIR data principles
Software and database development best practices
EMR data abstraction
Real world, clinical or epidemiological data
Genomic ontologies and controlled vocabularies (Mondo/MeSH/GO etc)
Medical ontologies and controlled vocabularies (ICD9/10/SNOMED)
Drug R&D
Statistical modeling
Knowledge analytics
Knowledge graphs (eg RDF, Neo4j) and linked data
Graph based AI techniques
Thrive in a fast-paced environment and willing to shift priorities seamlessly.
