Benefits Analyst
The Benefits Analyst will report to the Benefits Manager and is responsible for assisting with the administration of all benefits and retirement programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance-, short- and long-term disability, and 401(k) plans. Responsibilities include explaining benefits and assisting in the business development and planning processes with service providers. Compiles, analyzes, and reports data including employee, plan financials for strategic benefits planning and evaluation. Provides benefit plan interpretation, guidance, and counsel to employees, HRIS representatives, and managers.
Responsibilities
- Conducts quantitative and qualitative analysis of benefit programs.
- Analyzes and interprets benefit/plan-related documentation, including but not limited to federal, state, and local legislation.
- Develops and maintains solid data management through the creation of spreadsheets & reports in Microsoft Excel or other tools.
- Audit, reconcile, analyze, and summarize benefit reporting data as required.
- Assist with management of the annual plan audits, plan compliance, government filings (Forms 5500 and 1095/1094-C, PCORI, etc.) and non-discrimination testing in conjunction with the broker/consultant.
- Prepare, reconcile, summarize, and audit carrier/vendor invoices.
- Ensures monthly carrier billing is remitted timely, reconciles carrier invoices against subscriber list.
- Audit weekly carrier files to ensure enrollment data is accurate.
- Assist in managing the 401(k) program, vendor and understanding the details of the plan.
- Audits 401(k) Non-Discrimination testing process, submission to vendor, and address, fix errors as needed.
- Assist in developing and administering a Wellness program.
- Assist in developing recommendations to implement new local and global benefit plans, design benefits packages, and modify existing programs for needed changes to ensure compliance with legal and tax requirements.
- Assist with system configuration, end to end testing on HRIS and benefits open enrollment tasks.
- Respond to a wide variety of specific international benefit-related questions for internal and/or external team members.
- Lead a variety of other short-term projects as assigned.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications / Skills
- Ability to interpret HCM/HRIS and payroll systems data and apply to multiple aspects of benefit plan document language including eligibility, enrollment, transactions, plan rules, reporting requirements, audits, etc.
- Strong knowledge of ERISA rules and regulations as they apply to retirement and health and welfare plans and the ability to apply that knowledge to plan administration and compliance enforcement.
- Hands-on experience with managing third party benefits and retirement vendors.
- Proficient with HR applications such as Workday and UltiPro (UKG Pro), Excel including V-lookups, formula creation and data analysis report development.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient in Google Suite or similar software.
Education / Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field required.
- 6 years of benefits or related experience.
- Experience with the implementation of new systems, enhancements, and upgrades.
- Experience with global/international benefits a plus
- SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred.
