Your Role and Responsibilities

The position of the Big Data Engineer plays a key role in the development and deployment of innovative big data platforms for advanced analytics and data processing. The Data Engineer defines and builds the data pipelines that will enable faster, better, data-informed decision-making within the business. Develops applications on Big Data and Cognitive technologies including API development. Expected to have traditional Application Development background along with knowledge of Analytics libraries, open-source Natural Language Processing, statistical and big data computing libraries. Strong technical abilities to understand, design, write and debug complex code.

We are seeking a Data Engineer to perform Data Ingest functions specializing in AWS technologies.

Candidate must live within 300 miles of Buffalo NY. Travel is typically related to knowledge transfer and training at the client site (Monday thru Friday). POST COVID you are expected to travel up to 75% of the time to meet our client needs across the US.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

5+ years exp building production level systems in a cloud environment (e.g. AWS)
5+ years of working experience in automating and creating automations in a cloud environment
5+ years exp working with data warehousing and data lake
5+ years of working exp development with Python, R or JAVA

Preferred Technical and Professional Experience

Any 3 of the following:

- AWS Glue
- AWS data catalogs
- Security aspects of AWS (KMS)
- AWS RDS, DynmoDB, Redshift
- Terraform for AWS resource deployment
- Jenkins
- Airflow for orchestration
