Associate Director, R&D Data Visualization and Analytics

OBJECTIVES/PURPOSE
- Design and create interactive visualizations that facilitate generation of insights and understanding of data correlations through the drug development process
- Shape, assess and improve data integration and services through automation in support of our R&D pipeline
- Implement operational analytics of data services, predictive models for process control, machine learning and & other problem-solving activities
- Oversees data governance and integration for Program Portfolio Management (PPM) Single Source of Truth inclusive of Asset master data governance
- Drive for operational insights by influencing, designing, and / or optimizing processes for operational effectiveness (i.e. pipeline scenario planning, resources optimization and other related process)
- Maintain awareness of the overall R&D portfolio, drug development activities and milestones in order to be strategic in planning, progress oversight, and delivering high quality reporting and insights
ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Design, develop, and maintain user-friendly data visualizations and dashboards using complex datasets from different sources. Implementing best practices to ensure dashboard design consistency for the best user experience
- Partner in the development of visualization and automation technologies to provide accurate and readily available information to Global Program Teams, Senior Leadership and R&D Stakeholders
- Collaborate with internal resources (Data Sciences Institute and R&D IT) to integrate and connect data, leading to actionable learnings and trends
- Provide advanced analytical support to the business in support of routine and ad-hoc requests.
- Build and/or apply appropriate tools and techniques with a "fit for purpose" mindset.
- Establish and maintain strong partnerships to strengthen Data integrity, Data Stewardship and data-informed decisions
- Build interactive and complex data visualizations and analysis tools (e.g., dashboards).
- Research, design, and test machine-learning algorithms and programs.
- Refine assets based on feedback, ensuring their continuity of accuracy and functionality.
EDUCATION, BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:
- Bachelors degree in chemistry, biology, pharmacy, engineering or related pharmaceutical science and 5-10+ years relevant experience
- Masters degree/PhD in chemistry, biology, pharmacy, engineering or related pharmaceutical science; 3-5+ years relevant experience
- Experienced with BI and/or Tableau development
- Respective programming knowledge in Python/R/C/JavaScript. Further programming experience is advantageous.
- Proficiency in database languages (SQL), understanding of data models and databases, data wrangling and data architecture
- Demonstrated experience in building platforms, technologies and tools for data visualization
- Health care business acumen with a comprehensive understanding of the pharmaceutical industry
- Strong mastery of data analytics, modeling and telling a story with data
- Ability to build relationships across R&D
