Job Description & Requirements

JOB SUMMARY: The Business Analyst for BI will be focused on eliciting requirements and maintaining documentation for critical reports, dashboards, orchestration processes and analytic solutions for our core business groups in support of marketing and strategic decision making. This is an opportunity to leverage your passion for understanding underlying business needs and to add considerable impact through delivery of critical BI solutions. You will team with diverse stakeholders across Finance, Marketing, Operations, Sales, Product, and IT teams and work closely with them to determine reporting requirements and translate them into appropriate reporting tools. The IT team will serve as a close partner as you assure the flow of valid data from the data warehouse to reporting tools and ensure accuracy and quality to BI reports and dashboards processes.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • REQUIREMENTS ELICITATION
    • Facilitate requirements elicitation working sessions to fully understand and advocate for solutions that meet current and future business needs.
    • Gather report requirements from clients across the business to make sure they satisfy their needs and help them make strategic decisions.
    • Ability to document user requirements into a well-structured specification.
    • Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources.
    • Partner with delivery teams to ensure business needs are accurately represented in solution delivery.
    • Distinguish user requests from the underlying true needs.
    • Provide creative solutions to problems.
  • QUALITY ASSURANCE
    • Responsible for QA of new reports and dashboards to ensure business needs have been met.
    • Create and maintain documentation for QA processes for the BI and Orchestration teams.
    • Team across departments to navigate and solve delivery problems if / as they occur.
    • Validate solution designs against business requirements and perform QA on end products.
  • PROJECT MANAGEMENT & COMMUNICATIONS
    • Ability to document requirements clearly, monitor progress during development and provide end user documentation during and development and upon release of new products.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group that includes specialists, management, and subject matter experts.
    • Ability to communicate in business terms with business leadership, IT terms with IT partners, and partner with Data Steward to ensure data integrity from source system to report output.
    • Successfully engage in multiple initiatives simultaneously.
    • Participate in and help lead weekly business intelligence status meetings
  • OTHER DUTIES
    • Assist in the performance of other special duties and projects as needed in support of organizational goals
    • Seek opportunities to help other team members expand their knowledge and capabilities in business intelligence
    • Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.



EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required, preferably in Marketing, Engineering, Computer Science or Economics.

EXPERIENCE: 3+ years of experience with database queries and report and dashboard creation preferably in support of marketing and sales functions in the consumer entertainment, travel or amusement park industry.

  • 3+ years eliciting and documenting requirements and end user documentation during dashboard and orchestration projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to take detailed requirements and convert into actionable documents.
  • Strong background in all aspects of database technology, with an emphasis in the Marketing technology stack.
  • 3+ years developing executive level and operational dashboards using tools such as Tableau, COGNOS, Business Objects or 3+ years working in a CRM delivery role.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills


Experience/Knowledge in the following areas preferred/beneficial:

  • Travel & Resort Industry, Entertainment &/or Theme Park experience
  • CRM Analytics
  • Adobe Analytics



ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

  • Key business intelligence expert and influencer of Sales and Marketing business intelligence development needs throughout all sales and marketing initiatives.
  • Previous experience with marketing, media and customer segmentation strategy required;
  • Experience with client engagement and communications.
  • Proven experience eliciting requirements and providing project documentation.
  • Experience building dynamic dashboards in Tableau or similar reporting tool. (Tableau preferred).
  • Experience with Snowflake, Alteryx, SQL and Relational Databases;
  • Experience with Tableau, Alteryx, Unica, Interact, and/or AAM preferred.
  • Ability to work independently in a deadline oriented environment;
  • Experience in troubleshooting and resolving problems;
  • Ability to work directly with internal departments towards issue resolution/project release;
  • Ability to evaluate quantitative data sets and determine "big picture" implications required;
  • Ability to handle multiple projects required;
  • Desire to work in a fast paced environment required;
  • Proficiency communicating research results in written, visual and verbal form required.
