ABOUT PARITY:

Buildings in our beautiful cities, where we live and work, are producing 40% of the CO2 going into our atmosphere and contributing to climate change. We need to HEAT, VENTILATE, and AIR CONDITION our buildings 24/7. Most of the energy consumed in a building is for our comfort, but 50% of it is wasted! This is because buildings have little to no technology to control this.

Parity is a Remote HVAC Optimization as a Service company. We remotely control and optimize HVAC systems 24/7/365 to deliver automatic energy savings and revenue to multifamily residential buildings and hotels. Using advanced algorithms, Parity can predict the amount of energy needed ahead of time to operate a building to meet its occupants' demands and adapt the building's systems and machinery in real time. We save our customers:

  1. Time - we automate setpoint adjustments and demand response protocols. Our Pi (Parity Insights) dashboard provides early alerting services when things go down.
  2. Money - Parity contractually guarantees the savings that we expect to deliver to our multifamily customers. We also unlock additional revenue through the automation of grid services.
  3. CO2 Emissions - we reduce a building’s emissions by optimizing its HVAC systems and reducing energy waste.

THE ROLE:

We are looking for a Data Systems Intern to join our team and support our Data Systems Manager in building the operational infrastructure that will scale Parity’s business. In this role, you will play a hands-on part in executing cross-functional systems projects, from auditing and optimizing our Salesforce org to implementing AI and automation tools that drive real efficiency gains across teams. This is an excellent opportunity for someone eager to start a career in climate technology and gain deep, practical experience in systems design, business operations, and process engineering. We are seeking someone who is analytical, proactive, and excited about building things from the ground up.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support the Data Systems Manager in leading a full Salesforce org audit, including coordinating with department stakeholders, documenting current workflows, and identifying gaps and inefficiencies.
  • Assist in building and maintaining cross-functional process documentation that captures how data flows between teams and systems.
  • Help design and implement Salesforce workflow automations, fields, and process improvements that better reflect how teams operate day-to-day.
  • Research, evaluate, and pilot AI and automation tools that can eliminate manual work and accelerate team productivity.
  • Contribute to the build-out of internal applications and dashboards that provide real-time visibility into operations (e.g. sales pipeline tracking, service delivery integrations).
  • Support the Data Systems Manager in coordinating with the Product team on data structure requirements and integration planning for the company’s central database.
  • Document project progress, track initiative timelines, and help manage the systems project intake and prioritization process.
  • Provide analytical and operational support across active systems initiatives as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • IMPORTANT: This role is partially funded by NYSERDA. As such, you must be a current student at a university or college located in New York State or have graduated from a university or college located in New York State no more than 12 months prior to your start date.
  • You have the ability to commute to our Midtown Manhattan office 2–3 days a week
  • You are detail oriented and well organized
  • You are proficient with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word. Experience with Salesforce, Asana, Zapier, or similar tools is a plus
  • You have strong analytical and problem-solving skills; you enjoy breaking down complex processes and finding ways to improve them
  • You are eager to grow, learn, and tackle new opportunities in a fast-growing startup environment
  • You are a quick learner, and only need to be shown something once before doing it yourself, and then going back to improve the process
  • You constantly seek efficiency and optimization of processes and procedures; you look for gaps and work to fill them
  • You have an interest in AI, automation, or systems design, prior experience or coursework is a plus but not required

COMPENSATION: $20/hour - 10-15 hours/week

WHY JOIN US?

Join our organization in a key role during a period of tremendous growth and directly contribute to its future success. Contribute to a world-changing product that is working to make the world a better place through reduced CO2 emissions in multifamily buildings. Have the autonomy to learn and grow in a fast-moving, start-up environment.
