Data Specialist

Lumerate is growing rapidly and we’re searching for a Data Specialist to join our nascent biotech-investor intelligence brand, BioBackers, for the journey!

BioBackers, Lumerate’s newest brand, is a biotech investor intelligence platform created for the executive leadership and business development professionals operating within early-stage therapeutics-focused biotech ventures who are working to raise their next financing round. BioBackers enables search and identification of life science investors with investment goals matching the biotech’s investment profile. BioBackers aims to save our biotech customers the painfully wasted time and energy that’s lost with the unstructured, poorly-targeted, brute-force approach to investor prospecting that leads to over 65% of investor rejection responses. BioBackers is in its early stages of development, which means we are looking for a driven, creative, and entrepreneurial individual who’s seeking the opportunity to help build and launch a new software product, and then help grow it into an industry leading platform.

The Data Specialist will be a key hire to accelerate our entry into the biotech startup industry. If you’re someone who finds joy in solving new data-related puzzles, likes to think outside the box, and has experience building customer driven product features - then this position could be for you. This role is a critical one for us, you’ll be our first data-dedicated hire on the BioBackers team and will have a massive opportunity for growth. We are looking for someone who can eventually lead our BioBackers data team.

• Sourcing, organizing, and representing data related to biotech investors, their funds, portfolios, and mandates
• Update our internal databases with missing data and develop strategies to automate our data collection and maintenance practices
• Take on various data projects to solve key challenges with representing and delivering investor intelligence to our biotech customers within BioBackers
• Help fulfill research requests from other Lumerate brands that leverage our investor intelligence datasets and capabilities
• Help us explore and understand new software product opportunities at the intersection of biotech and investor networks

• You have an educational background in life sciences or data (MSc minimum) with a few years of work experience in a data related role, ideally in the life science industry
• You consider yourself above average when it comes to digging for information online
• You enjoy working in small team environments, but you will be comfortable and highly focused working independently/remotely throughout the day
• You’re comfortable navigating complex technical environments
• While you are creative and full of ideas, you won’t mind some daily routine tasks
• You have experience working with LLMs, and a keen interest to apply them in your work
• You’re exceptional at working with spreadsheets + manipulating and visualizing data

Base salary between CAD $58-85K / year

The target start date for this role is July 7, 2025, but we are willing to wait to find the right candidate.
