Job Title:

Data Solutions Manager

Work Schedule:

Hybrid – Buffalo, NY

Moog's Industrial Group (IG) IT team is seeking a Data Solutions Manager to lead the technical strategy, engineering, and delivery of trusted data and analytics capabilities. In this leadership role you will set the technical direction for a modern data lakehouse and ERP data landscape and then help the team build it.  You will focus on the platform and engineering components: taking requirements from data governance and process functions and building data solutions in alignment with IG and enterprise data standards.

You will operate at the center of a multi-year data and ERP transformation: keeping the current data warehouse reliable today, leading its migration onto Moog's corporate Databricks environment, growing a high-performing data engineering team that builds new data products, and steering the data migration from SAP ECC and legacy ERP platforms to SAP S/4HANA. You will partner closely with the IG IT, Data Management, Business Intelligence, Finance, and the SAP teams to deliver scalable, standards-aligned, future-ready data solutions while managing continuity risk throughout the transition. You will report to the Senior Director of IT, Industrial Group. The role can be based in the US, UK or Europe.

To be considered for the Data Solutions Manager, here’s what you’ll typically need to bring with you:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, a related field, or a combination of education and equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of seven (7 ) years’ experience in data roles, with at least five (5) years leading technical data teams (data engineering, warehousing, or platform delivery), including hiring, coaching, performance management, and vendor oversight.
  • Demonstrated experience building data architecture, strategy, and engineering principles, both from a hands-on and leadership perspective.
  • Strong familiarity with enterprise data warehousing — dimensional/semantic modeling, ETL, SQL performance tuning, and warehouse platforms (e.g., SAP BW, Progress, Snowflake, Synapse, or similar).
  • Hands-on experience building and delivering solutions in Databricks, including working knowledge of Delta Lake, Databricks Workflows, Genie spaces, and Unity Catalog controls.
  • Strong command of SQL, Spark, Python, and modern ELT/orchestration tooling, with an automation-first, reusable-framework mindset.
  • Familiarity with data contracts, including producer-consumer accountability, schema evolution standards, data quality requirements, and platform governance controls.
  • Experience managing data migration efforts (extraction, cleansing, mapping, load, reconciliation), preferably in a SAP ECC and/or S/4HANA context.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management across technology, business process, finance, and program teams, including communication with senior leadership.
  • Ability to work effectively with global, remote, and diverse teams.
  • Domestic and International travel may be required.

As the Data Solutions Manager, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Oversee IG’s data solutions team, helping to set for data architecture, data engineering, and data solution delivery
  • Develop and maintain the target-state technical data architecture for IG, spanning ingestion, lakehouse modeling (bronze/silver/gold), semantic layers, and BI enablement, aligned with Moog's enterprise data governance and standards.
  • Define and sequence a multi-year data solutions roadmap, ensuring balance between business value, cost, risk, and solution re-use to deliver on IG business needs.
  • Own the reliability and performance of the current IG data warehouse and analytics platforms; leading a team of employees and contractors to manage incident response, change deployment, business continuity, and other sustainment functions.
  • Lead IG's migration onto Moog's existing corporate Databricks (lakehouse) environment for warehousing and analytics, working in close partnership with the corporate Data Management team to ensure architectural alignment.
  • Partner with Data Governance team on documentation of existing data warehouse business logic (multi-ERP harmonization, GL calculations, finance KPIs, etc.) so that it can be evaluated and dispositioned as part of the migration program.
  • Translate the target-state architecture into an executable plan with milestones, decision gates, and retirement criteria with validation before decommissioning legacy assets.
  • Manage the ERP data migration teams who execute data cleansing, mapping, and transformation processes across multiple SAP ECC and legacy ERP systems as part of the broader ERP transformation program.
  • Foster a high-performing data solutions team, establishing talent and development plans to source, hire, train, and reskill data engineers to ensure we have the right capacity and skills needed to deliver upon our data journey.
  • Establish engineering standards for the IG data function (i.e. data quality, freshness, lineage, CI/CD, and documentation) to ensure data solutions are built to meet stakeholder requirements while adhering to enterprise data standards and industry best practices.
  • Serve as a key partner and advisor to business and technology leaders across Moog, advising on data best practices, understanding business needs and translating them into actionable solutions, and maintaining a commitment to collaboration and clear communication.

The base pay range for this opportunity is $USD130,000 - $USD180,000 per year, or equivalent benchmark in Europe/UK.
