The Opportunity
BAE Systems is seeking a Summer 2025 Software Engineer Intern with a focus on data ingestion and validation. Join our Strategic Systems Programs Data Management Team within our Configuration & Data Management Program Area and become a member of a highly productive team, where each employee has the opportunity to grow their skills and work on rewarding projects. The focus of this position will be data ingestion and validation in support of the US Navy's Strategic Systems Programs (SSP)-a program that keeps our nation safe with a credible sea-based nuclear deterrent. The selected candidate will perform the following functions working closely with interdisciplinary teams comprising management and engineers in support of the:
- Developing, modifying, applying, and maintaining standards for data systems quality operating methods, processes, and procedures
- Conducting evaluation of data activities including requirements, architecture design, documentation, integration, test, verification and validation
- Defining measures to ensure product quality
- Developing overall operating criteria to ensure implementation of data quality according to project, process and contract requirements and objectives
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
Required Education, Experience, & Skills:
- Enrolled student at an accredited 4-year college / university having completed a minimum of two years (Sophomore) towards a Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, Data Engineering, Information Science, or other related degree or have completed a 4 year degree within the past 12 months
- Basic knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of a relevant field of specialization
- Understanding of basic data verification and validation principles
- Experience with programming and scripting languages (Python, SQL, and Javascript)
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Word, Teams, etc.)
- Ability to work well with cross-functional teams
- Excellent attention to detail
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and ability to work effectively with others
- Strong planning, organizational, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated self-starter with organizational, planning, and follow-up skills
- Ability to interact with and effectively present information to peers and management
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
- Basic knowledge of fundamental data migration concepts, practices, and procedures
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $48620 - $67640
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
Temporary employees generally are not eligible for BAE Systems benefits, but can elect to participate in the 401(k) savings plan. Temporary employees working 20+ hours per week are eligible for medical benefits, the employee assistance program, and business travel accident insurance.
