This position is located at NOAA’s National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI), working in the Climatic Science and Services Division (CSSD) in the User Engagement Services Branch. It will support Customer Service Representatives in filling certified and uncertified orders.
This position is located at the NCEI office in Asheville, NC
Responsibilities include:
- Search databases, publications, web resources, and physical archives for information and retrieval of data
- Prepare printed reports for certification
- Quality check reports for accuracy and completeness throughout life cycle of order
- Package and mail reports to customers
- Email information and data when requested
- Communicate with Client Service Representatives regarding orders
- Create optical disc media as needed
- Create data packages using microfilm/microfiche when requested
- Submit task reports weekly and monthly
- Maintain monthly order files
- Experience with Adobe Acrobat
- Experience with Google Suite and Microsoft Office
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently
- Must be detail-oriented and have the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Must be able to pass a background investigation to obtain clearance to enter the applicable government facility
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of weather datasets
- Experience with databases
- Experience in Customer Service
- Familiarity with USPS and UPS/FedEx shipping procedures
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Atmospheric Science, Computer Science or related discipline, or related work experience
