You will be part of a team known for delivering innovative technical solutions that support critical national security missions.

In this role, you will serve as a trusted technical advisor in a Systems Engineering and Technical Assistance (SETA) capacity, directly supporting the Government Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and NGE leadership. You will provide technical oversight and integration guidance for the NGE Data Design Area, supporting the development of a secure, resilient hybrid multi-cloud environment.

You will evaluate existing applications, databases, and modern data platforms across AWS, Azure, and on-premises environments to ensure alignment with the Department of Defense (DoD) Zero Trust Strategy. Your work will focus on data discovery, classification, protection, and access governance to ensure mission-critical information remains secure and accessible only to authorized users.

Responsibilities:

You'll be responsible for:

  • Serving as a senior technical authority in Architecture Review Boards (ARBs), evaluating proposed database architectures, data storage solutions, and data pipelines against NGE requirements and DoD Zero Trust mandates.
  • Conducting technical assessments of existing mission applications, relational databases, NoSQL environments, and object storage repositories to identify modernization opportunities and Zero Trust integration gaps.
  • Providing architectural oversight for enterprise data discovery, automated cataloging, classification, labeling, and tagging across hybrid multi-cloud environments.
  • Designing and validating data protection solutions, including data-at-rest encryption, automated Data Loss Prevention (DLP), data rights management, and dynamic data masking.
  • Ensuring data platform architectures align with DISA Thunderdome Zero Trust capabilities, including Secure Access Service Edge (SASE), Cloud Access Security Broker (CASB), and enterprise DLP policies.
  • Developing and evaluating fine-grained Attribute-Based Access Control (ABAC) solutions using Identity, Credential, and Access Management (ICAM) attributes and contextual risk assessments.
  • Overseeing integration of Policy Enforcement Points (PEPs) and Policy Decision Points (PDPs) to support dynamic authorization and secure data access.
  • Providing technical guidance for data virtualization, database security, and access governance across AWS, Azure, and on-premises VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) environments.
  • Ensuring compliance with DoD Data-at-Rest (DAR) requirements, Key Management Service (KMS) integration standards, Hardware Security Module (HSM) requirements, and applicable JSIG and NIST SP 800-207 guidelines.
  • Evaluating data platform modernization strategies and integration approaches to improve interoperability, security, and enterprise data governance.
  • Leading technical exchange meetings (TEMs) with integration contractors, database vendors, and security technology providers to evaluate proposed solutions and resolve cross-platform integration challenges.
  • Translating Government leadership requirements into actionable engineering solutions while maintaining alignment with NGE architecture and DoD cybersecurity standards.

Basic Qualifications:

  • You must have a Master's degree in a STEM discipline with at least 12 years of engineering or IT architectural experience, or a Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline with at least 20 years of relevant experience. Degrees in Computer Science, Data Management, Cybersecurity, or a related technical discipline are preferred.
  • You must have a minimum of 6 years of experience analyzing, architecting, and integrating complex enterprise databases, including relational database management systems (RDBMS), NoSQL platforms, storage solutions, and data pipelines.
  • You must have demonstrated experience designing and implementing Zero Trust data protection solutions, including automated data classification, data rights management, dynamic access governance, and encryption.
  • You must have hands-on experience architecting and securing enterprise data storage and analytics services across both AWS and Microsoft Azure environments.
  • You must have experience designing, accrediting, and operating data platforms within classified DoD environments.
